Shall we have a NY skyline or Osama's skyline? Without the towers, they win.

I am stunned that our politicians have not demanded the Twin Towers be rebuilt. The citizens will need to take over this issue. What better way of showing the terrorists they will not change our way of life?

There is no other way to say to the terrorist that there is no way you will beat us, then to rebuild!!

I come to NY all the time. My children live there. It would show our strength to rebuild and show no fear. They cannot get the better of us.

We should rebuild the Twin Towers, just as they were, but better, stronger and, just to poke it in the eye of those who brought the first ones down, a little bit taller.

The greatest symbol of our greatest city has been destroyed. We must rebuild it! Terrorism is cowardice! Since when does America let cowards prevail?

Not rebuilding them shows weakness. Changing the design shows weakness. They should symbolize strength without fear.

The twin towers not only conferred a bold and unique topography to the New York skyline, they also provided comforting reassurance of ones proximity to the greatest city on earth to the 5 boroughs and as far away as Westchester and Monmouth counties.

I agree with rebuilding the Twin Towers wholeheartedly. It's the only solution for lower Manhattan that makes any sense.

I just want to express my support for the cause of rebuilding the 110 story twin towers just as they were or even better and taller. I am also extremely disappointed with the Freedom Tower design. To me, this is a travesty that shouts retreat to those who would destroy our way of life. I don't know why the developers or the city felt a need to hold an "international" competition to come up with a design for the Word Trade Center. Are there not enough American architects? This was an American tragedy, so why are the Europeans designing the building?

∞Bob Pachomski

The Twin Towers should be rebuilt the way they were, if not, then taller. We should not allow terrorists the satisfaction that they destroyed our buildings and took away so many lives. We can not replace lives, but WE CAN REBUILD!!

i don't know ANYONE who doesnt prefer rebuilding to what they plan now. The people did not choose this design. corporate greed and those with power and influence did. The terr@rists are attacking democracy...and without rebuilding, theyve succeeded!

The ONLY possible thing to do is restore the great Twin Towers! How can one unattractive building replace two magnificent structures that stood for Peace? This is New York Engineering at its best and skyscrapers that defined a skyline!

Let's not build a monument that will give Osama and his cowardly pigs an opportunity to boast that an elaborate new tower is really a tribute to their success. Rebuild the towers as they were, but stronger! Show the world we’re still here, but stronger! Let the towers be our symbol of strength and determination to rid the world of the Osama virus.

Always think of 9/11 and what the city went through.

If you have already signed and would like to change categories, please re-submit your signature, using the same e-mail address. As soon as your new signature is confirmed via e-mail, the old one will be deleted. Note that you will have to retype your comment, if you left one. This method could also be used to correct typos made in a previous comment.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
