The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.
Click above for more comments that rebuke the cynicism that tried to replace the Twin Towers and failed.
Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
Rebuilding is the proper memorial for all those who lost their lives. They deserve the Towers in their remembrance.
God Bless Everyone Who Lost Their Lives. Rebuild It For Them!
RIP to all the people that died on that day.
God Bless America

This is more practical, and will show other nations that we will not just give up, we will replace what they destroy and stand strong!
Why are you building something different? This just tells people that we've been defeated. We aren't defeated...Do you know why? BECAUSE WE'RE EFFING AMERICA! Put back what was once there? The people have spoken? so.....will barack obama Deliver?...or dissapoint?
Bring back the twin towers in remebrance of the ones who gave there life to try to keep them.
The twin towers were an iconic figure in New York, and to rebuild them would bring comfort to the whole of New York and America. There is only 1 choice in my opinion...
Towers need to be rebuilt. Simple as that. If you build this ugly Freedom Tower you will let the terrorist win.
Please rebuild the twin towers and show that we can stand strong as a nation. Heal the skyline!
The WTC Towers stood since the mid 60 to early 70s,been featured in many films and TV series. Which made them Historical,a staple in Manhattan. Make them a few stories taller and better, but same outer design.
it would be a travesty if the Twin Towers were not resurected. this would be the greatest symbol of freedom and patriotism the world has ever seen. bring them back!!!
Rebuilding the Twin Towers stronger and safer is the more prudent thing to do.
I would love to see the wtc be rebuilt again because before 9/11 they symbolized america and were the focus point of nyc. Now with still nothing there and plans to build the stupid freedom tower or wtc 1 i think its time to take action and rebuild the beautiful twin towers!
It's past time to get these towers built. Procrastination is a slap in the survivor's faces.
I believe rebuilding the twin towers would show that we are not going to back down or change our ways because of the acts that were taken on 9-11
Hello
The events of September when it happened on 11.9.2001
I was only 10 years and I'm from the Middle East, now I remember the scene very frightening
I was child, but there is something in my heart told me that this is something bad and dangerous
Now I am 18 years old and very sad because of what happened
It was a normal working day suddenly turned into a disaster
In the eighth anniversary heard in the news that there is still Ground Zero as it is not the project ends
Discussed in the Internet and knew everything about design
And I chose to rebuild the Twin Towers
It's the best building in the world and I think that this is also what made terrorists destroy it
But do not anyone will be able to destroy life in the heart of New York City
So I found it my duty to join with you and encourage you
I'm with the Twin Towers
But we will be to see the twins towers again rise in the skies of New York high and lofty say to every terrorist
I'm back again will not be able any person to collapse me
Yes for twin towers
World with you YES TWIN TOWERS
Ahmed
We should see the Twin towers again
Freedom Tower does not have any meaning at all
But the twintowers beautiful building in the world, especially at sunrise and sunset
I want to see TWIN TOWERS again
it is cute art
you shall do it
Yes for TWIN TOWERS
i love you NYC
We are the greatest nation on earth! We are a resilient people! Lets rebuild the towers and NEVER FORGET!!!!
Look forward to going up in them again:)
As an American i would love to see to the beautiful towers that made New York beautiful that gave it more life, and not a tower that looks horrible compared to those towers that was brought down on that faithful day
i was in new york after the destruction and never got to see the towers. i really strongly believe that we shouldnt build something that doesnt belong there and we NEED to bring back the twin towers
As the Twin Towers fell, First Aid Squads from throughout the State of NJ were staged in the Meadowlands. Approximately fifty were taken through the Holland Tunnel and staged at Chelsea Piers. One ambulance was placed at Ground Zero's Comman Center, and it was the one I was part of the crew, "Mine Hill First Aid Squad". Captain Edna Deacon, George Morris, Lisa Alers, and myself Ronald Regen. There were no lives to save at this point, but a lot to witness.
please rebuild the twin towers. please i want them rebuilt so we can remember the people and how they saved each other life. please please please rebuild them cause them dun heads trying 2 build that freedom tower trying 2 call that the twin towers that is not the twin towers please just rebuild them please. thank you and god bless America.
I, along with other americans want the twin towers back, I agree with Donald Trump, the freedom tower design is the worst piece of crap design ever proposed for hallowed ground, I have maintained my idea since year 2, but my design would not be two 111 towers but rather two 120 TOWERS! I fully support your cause and pray this design will happen! lets make america, america agian, while honoring those brave firefighters, police first responders and workers who lost thier lives that day.
Not being able to look downtown and see the stable anchor of the World Trade Center Towers leaves me with a sense of loss and sadness on a daily basis.
Bring the towers back! The Freedom Tower project is a disaster- scrap it and do what makes sense. Twin Towers are an American Icon!!
I was only young when the twin towers fell. I now at 13 years old look at the sky line of new york and feel there is something missing from what was a beatiful sky line. I enjoy watching the programme 'friends' just to see if I can spot the twin towers in it, i am obsessed with them. they should be rebuilt. For my birthday someone bought me a picture of the sky line and i could not look at it so i told my dad to take it back to the shop. please rebuild them make america america again.
The new towers could be called the "Freedom Towers", but I think naming them the "Phoenix Towers" would also be appropriate; they would have literally risen from the ashes.
Also: I like the idea of rebuilding the Towers exactly as they were (though maybe a little taller!). I believe that to do anything else would say to the terrorists: "You've given us the opportunity to create and build something different, something new." I believe the first Towers are still something NEW.
I want to see the original twin towers rebuilt, but they should be built even bigger than they were before. The new design is ugly and stupid, and Silverstein should step down because he's done a horrible job. Why doesn't Trump buy him out and just build his twin towers proposal? I think he should if he can, he definitely has the money for it. Please rebuild the towers bigger and better! It's the best way to stick it to those bastard terrorists.
Penn & Teller' B.S. (on Showtime) dedicated one of their episodes to the rebuilding of the twin towers, it was a good episode and it made me angry that the buearacrats can't get ANYTHING done.
Rebuild them and do it now!
God bless America.
The Freedom Tower IS Nice And All But It Doesnt Show The Real New York Which Is Why I Want My Old Towers Back!
The Freedom Tower is ugly not as big and doesnt show the iconic symbol of America and New York. The Twin Towers fit in and were huge they proved American strength and if we rebuild we will send a message saying: Terrorist you can destroy our buildings, we will mourn, but we will rebuild
8 years what has happened to us! This is the U.S.A ! WE rebuild, we overcome, we do not argue and drag our feet and get nothing done.. We must make our voices heard! In President Bush's words the terrorists will hear from all of us soon. That is our victory!! Rebuild Our Towers!!
Don't scar New York's skyline forever!
Rebuild the towers.
-Lisbon, Portugal
From the second they fell I've wanted them rebuilt the way the were. This is what we need. This is what we deserve. The Freedom Tower makes no sense.
Go for it! 🙂
Rebuild the towers! We do not want the "freedom tower". We want the original towers back so New York can look normal again. We have truly let Osama Bin Laden win if we don't rebuild and move on.
I think that the towers should be reconstucted as they were. Instead of 200 ft square make the 300 ft. And use all of the latest technology to make them as safe as possible. If the desire is to make them taller then so be it. It was a very sad day on 9-11 and my soul goes out to those who passed away on that day. I am from Arizona but I will never never forget what happened.
