The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

We should rebuild them the way they were. It will show that America can prevail from hard times; it will also truly restore the New York skyline, and fill the holes in all of our hearts, whether or not we lost someone close. Besides, would you rather see two tall, proud, symbols of our freedom, or an ugly triangular slab in Lower Manhattan?

Our towers need to be rebuilt as they were...only one floor taller as a show of bravado.....
oh, and perhaps OBL's head on a pike at the top.
That would be perfect.

Let's build them back the way there were only taller and strong then put some anti-aircraft guns on the roof just below the biggest American flag you've ever seen.

Absolutely. Do it. Build them back. Just like before, but bigger. With a giant American flag flying from the top.

I was born and bred in B'klyn 71 years ago.I lived either in B'klyn or Queens most of those years.I in fact lived for many years in Middle Village and Maspeth where we were able to see the twin towers from our overpass. When they came down it changed our scene which we saw many times a day. What a loss. My brother is a fireman that went and fought the fire the first week from day one. He is now suffering from respitory problems. So our involvement has me wanting to see it again.

I traveled to NYC for the first time last March. What a wonderful city. As we were approaching the Newark airport I was struck by the ummistakeable gap in the skyline of lower Manhattan. We need these symbols of national pride restored. Allowing the animals that did this to change America's skyline would be a crime.
The Freedom Bunker design is pedestrian at best. It is simply not representative of NYC, no matter how badly the political cronies want it to be.

Rebuild as they were, and add a permanent beacon on top of one of them, to show the world what Americans are made of and give a sign of hope to all people. Freedom Tower is a mere heir that will never live up to the greatness of its forefathers. REBUILD or PROTEST.

I thoroughly support the re-building of the twin towers. They were a source of American pride and should be rebuilt. I watched them errected from my kitchen window and I watched them burn for days. The Manhattan skyline is just "sad" to look at now. Building anything less is an insult to those who died there. I'm sure all New Yorkers feel the same.

I can't think of any better memorial to the victims and families all the emergancy workers......all affected by that day, than to drive down the west side highway and see those buildings again. you can't bring the victims back, but in my opinion you could in some way by seeing those buildings, the best in the city, country and possibly the world. Not even the petronas towers in malaysia are as breath taking (just my opinon). I wrote at the site last year on the wall BRING THE TOWERS BACK!!!!!!!!!

Eversince 9.11. I thought it was obviously understood that the Twins would be rebuilt the way they were to show that life is going to continue and that NYC will always have the skyline it had, the one it was famous for and the one that represented everything it stood for, is standing for and and always will stand for. I wouldn't give a second thought to saying yes to rebuilding the Towers. I really hope this will become a reality. Thank you to whoever got this petition started.

It would be great to resurrect the two towers. Can I make a suggestion or two.....well I will anyway.
Rebuild but paint different color
Rename the towers "phoenix"
Maybe leave floors empty above point of impact
I do have one problem about rebuilding though - How will the people working in the towers feel
god bless nyfd

I am a proud, educated American who is deeply saddened and upset that we are not rebuilding the Twin Towers as they once stood. 1.) I think the greatest way to memorialize the victims of 9/11 would be to restore the towers and the previous NYC skyline. 2.) When you get hit you stand up again, to restore America's glory we must rebuild the towers as they were before.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
