Freedom of Information — what a great concept. What could be more American? But at a time when technology had made it easier than ever before to have a robust exchange and debate of ideas, our options for the World Trade Center were reduced to one unpopular, illegitimate plan. That is not opinion, but established fact. Officials failed us, the media failed us, and we will fail not only ourselves, but generations to come, if we accept what their direspect and dishonesty have fashioned.
No one can point to a single debate in the media, as the future of Ground Zero was being planned — because even many journalists were hoodwinked into thinking that it was a matter of private property being built with private funds. Even more offensive, it was made to seem that 9/11 Families were opposed to new Twin Towers, when for many of them the opposite was true. The flood of propaganda made it, from the beginning, the World Manipulation Center.
What’s more, no one can point to a single straightforward answer from the officials we have been asking for an audit since 2007. The closest we came to a direct answer was when we spoke to the Counsel for Congressman Rangel, then Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, and he said, “You don’t really think the Congressman is going to cross the mayor, do you?” It was a shock when we began to recognize, contrary to conventional wisdom, how much Michael Bloomberg was and is pulling the strings.
If officials had only listened, at the many breakdown points along the way, and done their Constitutional duty to respond in good faith to the people’s petitions for redress, the fallacies they have been building upon, especially for the last few years under Christopher Ward’s leadership of the Port Authority, would have been exposed — which means teachers and truckers would not now be paying through the nose for a World Trade Center that no one but a handful of people ever asked for — or to be more precise — fenagled.
We are going to start posting below the latest round of contacts we have been having with the powers that be. When we are finished we will finally be ready to print and distribute “The Swindle At Ground Zero — Selling America Short” and after we do, it will never be possible for honest people to ever again pretend that what is being built at Ground Zero is honorable or inevitable.
The Committee on OPEN Government
There is a lot in motion right now and while we can’t post it all, we want to give supporters some idea of what is developing. We are going to group items by relevance rather than date, although the subjects often overlap. We start with the Advisory Opinion we requested from the Committee on Open Government (COOG), which is part of the New York Department of State. The COOG is run by Robert J. Freeman, a highly regarded defender of New York’s Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). More…

The Toll Hikes Controversy
The recent toll hikes were either an indication of how tone-deaf politicians and bureaucrats can be or how desperate. Given the current national mood, the extortionate increases were bound to create problems for the Port Authority, which they probably thought would blow over. But it is unlikely they would have waded into that cesspool if they had another choice, which makes it a reliable gauge of how much trouble they are in at the World Trade Center if they do not raise this money and sell the PA bonds and Silverstein’s (awarded to him by the PA) Liberty Bonds.
That is why we question below the legality of selling any WTC bonds until the AAA lawsuit is decided. The AAA New York approached the Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, before bringing the suit. Our own letter to Secretary LaHood and letters to those who are promoting the bond sales will soon be posted below.
