The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
Support rebuild
It is a shame the Twin Towers will not be rebuilt because of politics. What needs to be done is to reclaim nyc's skyline to what it once was. The current plan only makes the terrorists victorious while making us new yorkers the real losers. Shame to pataki and the all master planners. They're simply kissing the asses of the people who destroyed a symbol of ny and giving us a slap in the face by saying "Let's built something cheaper."
Unfortunatelly,I moved to NYC from west coast a year after the tragedy. It's funny to say that I was inspired to come and be part of this city by that terrible event that took a place at the end of the summer of 01...
Needless to say,I have never had a chance to visit WTC,but I was always fascinated by NY skyline and Twins. To me,NYC is not that same city everyone knows and dreams to be part of it,without Twin Towers...therefore,I support rebuilding the towers as they once stood...
My father passed in january 2004, he was raised in Manhattan and attended Holy Name and Commerce schools, I live in North Carolina. I will never forget the pain and horror of the evil that took the twin towers that day, and surely will never forget his expression and sorrow that consumed us as a family.
It's the only right thing to do. It's sickening to go into NYC and not see the towers. Show our strength again.
I'm sick of all the politics and being p.c. Yes, there should be a memorial. But let's also show the terrorists that they cannot defeat us. REBUILD! Even taller, stronger, safer, and better than before. I really miss those beautiful twin towers.
We need to rebuild the original towers as they stood and not settle for some hideous structure.
WE MUST REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS AND MAKE NEW YORK LOOK LIKE IT DID BEFORE SEPTEMBER 11 2001 AND THE PEOPLE THAT WORKED IN THE TWIN TOWERS THAT DIDN'T DIE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO BACK. WE MUST REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS AND NOT BUILD THE FREEDOM TOWER IT WILL TELL TERRORISTS THEY WON. THE TWIN TOWERS WILL TELL THEM THAT THEY LOST!!!!!!!!
Yes, we should rebuild the Twin Towers. But not from the "enemies" should we take them back, but from the very government of the United States. 9/11 was an inside job, all evidence shows. It is futile to try and create more excuses for this atrocity.
Regardless though, the Twin Towers must be rebuilt.
Yes, the towers MUST be rebuilt! I never forgot how magnificent they looked when I saw them on a trip in 1989. Any other tower design would be a great icon of victory for those murderers. I can see them jumping around, cheering, shooting guns in the air (barbarians!), while holding pictures of terrorist leaders side by side with pictures of the pathetic "Freedom Tower" as a symbol of our defeat. I agree: The only proper way for NYC and America to heal is to rebuild our beloved TWIN TOWERS!
PISS on the terrorists,BOMB us,POISON us
SEE YA IN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to see the twin towers rise again, bigger and better!
I was a New Yorker at the time, and I feel that nothing could be more fitting than to UNDO what the terrorists did.
Rebuilding the Twin Towers is the most 'you-can't-keep-a-good-man-down' thing to do and, of any other plan, would have the greatest encouraging and healing power.
To send a clear message, the new Twin Towers should be just a bit taller than the first ones. For honor's sake, they should also be somehow slightly different.

This is the ONLY way to properly and adequately honor the fallen and our heroic rescuers. It is the ONLY way to adequately make a statement of National pride and convey a message to those who would destroy us that we shall be victorious.
Restoring the original two towers, but building them a little taller, bolder, and stronger, would show all our enemies they cannot damage America in any permanent way. If nothing else, we need to prove to ourselves that we can do this, and that we have the will to put it back in their face, for the atrocity that was perpetrated.
Rebuilding shows strength, pride and faith.
Rebuild the towers now!
No question at all, we need the towers restored!
My names Emmet Dallat im 23 fom Ireland.I was in New York the March prior to 911 and it was my dream to go up the twin towers as they were such an inspiring structure.Sure the empire state has been in New York much longer but for me the Twin Towers made New York New york like.I was in Florida when September 11 took place and watched the events in horror. Not only did those terrorists ruin that skyline hopefully not forever but they also killed thousands of people.PLEASE REBUILD TWIN TOWERS RIP
We need the twin towers back! without it New York isn't going to be the same and people who wanted to see it, but can't cause of the terrorist attacks. WE WANT THE TWIN TOWERS AGAIN!!!!!!!
I am a keen researcher and fan of the twin towers and I am very sad that I will never get to see them if the Freedom Tower plans go ahead. I believe that rebuilding the World Trade Center as it was would prove that, although terrorists can try to take down our buildings, they will never succeed. Indeed - the Pentagon is repaired, Flight 93 failed to get to it's target, and if we rebuild the World Trade Center's iconic Twin Towers, the 9/11 attacks can be remembered by the huge World Trade Cent
I think we'll all remember where we were the day the Towers went down. I hope I'll remember the day when they go back up again.
A very famous quote says:
" If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."
I think that anything but rebuilding the towers would be giving into the terrorist who destroyed them in the first place. I think that any red-blooded American would agree. I think Corporate America is ruining America, the people today don’t use their voices anymore like they used to when our parents were fighting to make this country grow. To many people are afraid to say no, they just say yes, because they are afraid what someone else will say and want to be politically correct. I say to hell with political correctness speak your mind and be yourself. If we as Americans would just get together like our forefathers this would be a great country again with the respect from many others.
THERE ARE TWO REASONS I JOINED THE ARMY.ONE IS TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN BEFORE ME WHO GAVE UP THERE FREEDOM TO FIGHT FOR ARES.AND BECAUSE OF THE 9/11 ATTACKS.I REMEMBER AS A KID GOING TO NYC TO VISIT MY FAMILY AND SEEING THE WTC ITS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SITE IVE EVER SEEN.AND FROM THE STATUE OF LIBERTIY IT WAS EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL.THE LAST TIME I GOT TO SEE THE TWIN TOWERS IN 1993 AND I MISS THEM.IVE BEEN TO GROUND ZERO IN 2004 WE NEED THE TWIN TOWERS BACK NYC IS NOT THE SAME PAUL.
I think we should rebuild the towers and add a floor. Lets show the terrorists that America's spirit was not diminished. Now that were up to speed with armed pilots and better security, there's no fear of a future incident.
