The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Rebuild the towers exactly as they were; with the same visual appearance and on the same footprints with the same surrounding buildings and Tobin Plaza. Memorials can be placed in the towers themselves...

My name is Nathan Lesher, I am 14 years old, and I live in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
September 11th, though very tragic, has brought this country closer together in a way. I didn't know anybody who was loost in the attack, but I'm sure that the rebuilding of these monumental establishments will mean a lot to those who did. Because I live in Pennsylvania, not as much changed for me than it must have for those citizens of New York, but my name on this petition will mean as much as anyone else

I said this in an op-ed piece I wrote for The Norseman (West Valley College's newspaper) right after the 9/11 attacks, and I will say it again: Rebuild the Towers! Anything less is giving in to the terrorists who destroyed the Towers on that day.

1st alternative- Keep superblock. Should be a green complex. A new northbridge that has an outside like vesey street and an inside so if it's a sunny day but if it's cold or rainy you could be inside also.
2nd alternative- keep street grid but take out freedom tower and replace it with the twin towers on the old footprints.

I am probably the youngest person in this petition, but that does not matter. I did not loose anyone in the attacks, nor do I live in New York City but, the rebuilding of these great towers means a great deal to me. It is nearly impossible for me to explain my story or why I feel this way in 500 letters or less but I can say this......REBUILD!!!!! =)

The WTC was not only a building. It was a symbol both for NY and for the USA. It stood for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - values written down in the Declaration of Independence. Strengthen these virtues! Strengthen the fight against their enemies! Strengthen America! Rebuild the Twin Towers!
With best wishes from Germany! United we stand!

Twin towers were a symble all around the world, they represented the power of U.S.A., the American Dream and Freedom, such as Lady Liberty or The Golden Gate Bridge, New York without Twin Towers is like London without Big Ben tower, Paris without Eiffel tower, Rome without Colosseum, or Tokyo without the Tokyo tower. I think that people from all around the world wants to see soon the towers, possibly even taller and more beautiful than they were.

When I see New York on the t.v. I have a hard time relizeing it's New York without the twin towers. So I know it would do America's hearts a lot of good to have back a piece of what those people tried to take away from us.I think it's time that we show them what america's about and rebuild so they know when you knock us down we come back bigger and stronger.

I Love New York,

Absolutley, rebuild them, yet this time TWICE as high.
I was screaming this down the TV around those tragic days of September 2001.
We Brits were totally horrified at the attrocities commited against the USA and around those dark days, this country too had a dark mood to it.
New York is a fantastic place, and to say "Build them twice as high" is not a grand idea.
Manhatten has some of the most expensive land on earth,it therefore makes economic sense and viable.
GO FOR IT !

I think I can speak for alot of Americans when I say that we should rebuild the World Trade Center (Twin Towers). I live In Ohio, and I have never been/ and will never be able to see the original Twin Towers with my own eyes, The only way I can remember them is through pictures and the tragic events of that September day! America needs to do what we do best.. and that's be the greatest. Please, whomever is in charge of this.. Rebuild and Rembrace the Ground Zero site.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
