We must rebuild the Twin Towers! New York without the Twin Towers, it seems empty. This skyscrapers, were the greatest in the world. Freedom Tower - a terrible project.

I was 16 when the twin towers went down and I will never forget that day because the eleventh of september is also my birthday. I´d like the twin towers would be rebuilt and I think this is the best way to get over from the terrorist attack. From Spain!

Ever since I was a little boy, I've always wanted to visit New York because of the World Trade Center that once stood at the southern end of downtown Manhattan. Replacing that ground with the Freedom Tower is not only immoral but weak to our nation. We cannot allow the middle east their victory over us. Bring our towers back!

What better statement to those that support and perpetuate hatred against our country and way of life than to rebuild what was lost, and to do it more grand, bigger, and more beautiful than before.

I and EVERYONE I know want the Twin Towers back, not the monstrosity that's currently under construction. By rebuilding the new towers in the originals' image it would be a symbol of America's resolve and defiance to those who brought them down and to those who would plan another attack like this...

This could possibly be the most patriotic thing for anyone who is an American during this time in history. To rebuild what our enemies think they have taken from us. No other buildings will look the way the Twin Towers did on the Manhattan skyline. The American people can once again have a majestic and beautiful site to see, and the deepest sense of patriotism while gazing upon the Twin Towers II.

New York will never be the same without the Twin Towers. I was 12 yrs old when they went down. I always wanted to visit and stand in top of them but I never got the chance. It should be Rebuilt Better and Stronger so my dream to stand on them can become real. REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS!!! so New York will be New York again!!! NO Freedom Tower!!! it would be a disgrace if it is built!

Since the debate began on what to do with the WTC site, I have never been satisfied with the current proposal of the Freedom Tower. Why would we not re-build the twin towers? Give NYC its skyline back. Give America its towering symbols of freedom. God Bless America!

I'm a born and raised Texan and I've always admired the architecture of many of our cities including Manhattan, Chicago, Houston and my own backyard of Dallas.
Before the towers were destroyed I always took pride in the fact that they were so unique and they were ours. The day they fell was surreal cause it really felt like somebody had stolen a piece of America from us. I've always supported the idea of rebuilding the steel twins the way they were, if not taller. Please Rebuild them.

This is by far the best design and best tribute/memorial that could be built. These towers were taken away from us and we need to rebuild them in their likeness. No tribute could be greater.

Its been nearly ten years since that tragic day. I was just twelve at the time and as watched every year go by the more i thought that there would be nothing built at the site. And after years viewing awful looking planed designs i saw this one it was one that i loved the most. And i always had a feeling that this one would be the winner regardless of what others said. Lets all come together like we did on that day and rebuild what was taken from all of us that day, ONE FLOOR AT A TIME.

I sincerely hope that your plan to rebuilt the twin towers will prevail instead of the lacklustre Freedom tower. Plus, the memorial you're suggesting is even more significative than the one that is planned. The twin towers provided lower Manhattan with a strong skyline which was lengendary prior to the attacks. I was only 17 years old when the attacks occured but the old WTC is still a strong part of my imaginary. I can't imagine New York City without them.

GET THEM BACK PLEASE!

Why isn't this done yet? NYC just doesn't look or feel right without the towers. I don't want any "Freedom Towers" or any such nonsense either, just rebuild the towers exactly the way they were, straight from the original blueprints.

I'm currently living in Jersey City and every time I look beyond the Hudson River it just looks like something is missing. The Twin Towers always struck my eyes as a child. They would be the first thing I'd notice about NYC before the Empire State Building. I grew up in Essex county and even from the right elevation I was able to see the WTC. I truly miss those buildings. New York hasn't been the same without them. I remember 9/11 perfectly and I really wish that day never happened.

Rebuild the Twin Towers *exactly* as they were. They were an iconic part of the NY Skyline and since 9/11 have been immortalized as the most visible symbol of our strength, resilience, and determination overcome everything out adversaries would throw against us. That was how the NY Skyline was, and that is how the NY Skyline should be again.

The current Silverstein plan only seems to accept that the U.S. has failed to defend its confidence and integrity. With a slumping economy and a unforeseen future the best we can do to get ourselves back on a healthy track is to revitalize Lower Manhattan, a.k.a. Financial Capital of the World, and lead the way to a robust America. By rebuilding the Twin Towers, we are showing the world that we are stronger. It would be more cost effective to rebuild the Twin Towers that complement the current “One World Trade Center” rendering. Silverstein and the Port Authority should consider dumping Towers 2, 3, 4 and build a second “One World Trade Center” adjacent to the current one being built. You can then add smaller buildings surrounding the complex and keep the current memorial design intact. People would be able to view the memorial from a greater distance and appreciate stronger and safer Twin Towers. As current Towers 2, 3, 4 are disputed, we can easily rebuild Twin Towers. Yes We Can!!

Osama Bin Laden said it best when he stated that the foundation of all that is American died when the Twin Towers fell. Those towers are a symbol of America. By not building them back, we, as Americans are giving into the terrorist. Building them back taller and stronger only tells them that no matter what they do to us, we will come back stronger than ever...BRING BACK THE TWIN TOWERS!! PLEASE!!! Lets show those terrorist what America is made of!! God Bless AMERICA!!

I live in England and recently came back from an amazing trip to New York. It was really upsetting to see Ground Zero and I have always been interested in the 9/11 and what happened. The Freedom Tower looks quite nice, but it just wouldn't be the same. In my opinion The Twin Towers II is the only choice! I hope this idea goes ahead, good luck!

It is incredible that 1 World Trade Centre is being allowed to proceed. It is a sure sign of defeat to Al Qaeda. For all of us across the world that were affected by this disaster the only possible way to stand up and prove our will against such appalling behaviour is to rebuild the Twin Towers and show the Manhatten skyline as we all knew it. It is the only fitting and appropriate way to honour all those that lost their lives by proving that we will not be defeated by extremists - rebuild both!

With the same speed and diligence as the initial rescue operation on 9/11, and subsequent site clearing operations, the Twin Towers should have been rebuilt exactly as before. The Federal government ought to have gotten involved and pushed this project through with 24hr construction till its completion. With the hundreds of billions they've spent in bailouts and programs in recent years, we can't spare a couple billion to rectify this national disgrace? Absolutely pathetic!

I worked downtown for many years, loved having lunch in the plaza near the Towers. In 1993 I went through the PATH station a few hours before it was bombed, and realize that the toll could have been much worse that day. A week after 9/11, I went back to the site, and like everyone else the absence of the Towers was overwhelming. I knew someone who was killed that terrible day. We can't bring back those who were lost, but we can and should rebuild the Twin Towers.

To build anything other than the Towers as they were sends a message to supporters and those responsible for the attacks that they have to power to change who and what were are in here America. It is no insult to those who died and their survivors! It says defiantly that we are stronger than terrorists. You can knock us (Americans) down but we will always rise up again and survive--better, resilient, and indomitable!

By not erecting new Twin Towers, it says to the world that we have forgotten what and, most importantly, those we have lost on September 11th, 2001. Anything less than what we once had is unacceptable.

To this day, I deeply regret never visiting the original WTC Towers.

We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
