The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
Just Rebuild It.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😀 i hope i help!
The Twin Towers was a wonderful construction destroyed by two airplanes pilot by terrorists 11-S, after these moment the world change and NY Without WTC1 and WTC2 is very different. The plan of Freedom Tower and other buildings different than Twin Towers isn't appropiate to Ground Zero (isn't representative such was old Twin Towers). The old Twin Towers were more than simple towers, were a NY, US , America and Worldwide Symbol, and must be reconstructed.
Greetings from Concepcion, Chile
New York has not been the same since 9-11. The idea of a freedom tower is just not enough. We have been delt a heavy blow one which had the people of our city depressed for a long time. The twin towers were iconic to NYC. Without them there's an nasty scar on the face of our skyline. Anything else we build would just be cheap make-up trying to mask the scar. We know all the weaknesses of our lost Twin Towers. We CAN make them Taller, Stronger, Safer & more efficient than ever before. We should!
Hi, i am christian from germany... i would like have the twin towers back, because the skyline in big apple is only original with the towers... the picture of the skyline must be one and only!!!
What I don't understand is that the terrorists tried to beat this great nation by tearing the Towers out of our hearts. What I have to ask is, why are we letting them win? Why are we giving them their way? Those puny new towers that are being built are a sign of surrender, and America is not one to surrender. Please, please, make everyone in this fine nation reailize that the terrorists don't have to win if they are already losing.
We can rebuild america one step at a time, starting with the world trade center.
i always wanted to go up when but and it would a honour to fullfil my childhood dream
iye go frit
Keep the Freedom Tower - but rebuild the Twin Towers too - use this design and also have Donald Trump help
There are so many things that can be said about the twin towers, but I'll keep it short and simple. It's what the people want. It's more cost effective. I don't know, 2 + 2 = what?
An excavated piece of land does not honor the lives lost on 9/11. The proposed Freedom Tower does not properly honor them. Rebuilding the twin towers is only way to go. It does not only honor the lives lost, but it shows that we as a nation, can stand strong and overcome. It shows that we cannot be weakened, but only made stronger. Those two glorious towers would show that the memories of those lost stand tall in our hearts. And by rebuilding the twin towers, it shows that we will never forget.
I could go on forever about how the Twin Towers just HAVE to be rebuilt. There are many quotes to describe it:
"If the Statue of Liberty is destroyed, you don't replace it with the Eiffel Tower." - Donald Trump
"When the blood of Americans is stirred, there is nothing that we cannot achieve" - Kenneth Gardner
"Dream no small dreams." - Austin J. Tobin
If I could, I'd write a huge speech about how awesome those towers are. But I'll only say this:
Rebuild what we lost.
Shove the terrorist message sent on September 11th, 2001 right back in their face. Rebuild our beloved Twin Towers, bigger and stronger than before. And show them that we will not show fear in the face terrorist thugs.
I will never forget I was sitting in math class and the principal told all of the teachers to turn the t.v's on. The whole class room froze in speechlessness. No one said anything and a few people even cried. I was so upset to think that that kind of thing was really happening live on the t.v. That was a sad sad day at school. I will NEVER FORGET.
I've been to the twin towers maybe twice in my lifetime but, they have always been a majestic part of our skyline. I miss seeing them on the Q train going over the Mannie B. Heck, I miss seeing them...period. I say, if you want to bring our economy back to where it was back then, rebuild the towers. There was no freedom tower back then, was there? No! There were the twin towers.
Please rebuild the twin towers..when i was younger i used to look out the window and when i saw the twin towers I KNEW I was in New York....the Freedom Tower would not be the same! I loved those buildings and building something not similar at all is just terribe! LONG LIVE THE WORLD TRADE CENTERS AND BRING THEM BACK!! BIGGER..BETTER (even though they couldnt be much better)..STRONGER like the design they showed on youtube pretty much the same except stronger and one extra floor on each building!!
Put back what once was ours to begin with. We do not want nor need half of a tower we want OUR Twin Towers back, that is all there is to it, we the people are supposed to tell you what to do, not you tell us. Remember that in November. aho.
The twin towers were built in the 60's, a time of upheaval and doubt in the American psyche. When they rose above New York it was a testament to the populace of the nation that their country still had the capacity to inspire them... to cradle them... to define them.
The times we live in today are closely paralleled with that decade. We all worry over the future of our nation. Building a single tower where there once were two is unfortunate, but bluntly fortifying it is a travesty.

Hello, I am Nathan and I am 12! Please rebuild the twin towers so I can see them again and so can everybody else! When I think about New York I think WTC! We cant let these terrorists win! I would like my future children and their children to see it! So please have a heart! REBUILD THE ORIGINAL TWIN TOWERS BUT STRONGER AND NO LOCKS ON THE LIFT DOORS!
There's only one profile that would fit the Manhattan Skyline. And that is the glorious silhouette of the beloved Twin Towers. Nothing else would do.
Although i dont remember seeing the towers, it is very touching to me when i speak upon them. Im a junior in high school and all i could think about is the twin towers. New York needs the twin towers back again. i cant stress it enough. i just imagine myself driving on the highway and seeing that beautiful NYC skyline and the World Trade Center in the distance. New York City is the best city in the world and the city of dreams. So please can you make my dream become a reality?
please build the towers back the way they were
Stop this greedy madness and rebuild the Twin Towers!!!
Please rebuild the towers higher and stronger. What a great way to show these cowards that America is strong and we will prevail. New York needs to be whole again and anything else would not be appropriate. The twin towers deserve to stand again, stronger and taller. Please do the right thing.
In September of 2001, I wondered how long it would take to rebuild the Twin Towers. A year? Two years? Five? I never would have guessed we would go as long as 8 years with no progress. JUST REBUILD THEM.
Alot of things don't make sense to me in this crazy world we all live in, especially what they plan to build at ground zero in NYC, it literally makes me cry when i see pictures/videos of the former twin towers, then seeing a picture of world trade center 1 standing there, it just doesn't seem right, please please don't build world trade center 1 just REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS that i want to see and many many other AMERICANS want to see. I just want New York back.
My cousin was murdered on 9-11 along with 342 other brave firefighters. That day, and the days that followed were all about loss and destruction, and rising above it all with unity and courage and a refusal to let those who were murdered that day be forgotten or lessened in any way. Rebuild the towers, rebuild the bravery and let that tell the story. Let it tell the story of all the heroes, and let them be a constant reminder of the enduring spirit of the American people.
when i think about NY... the first thing that comes to anyone's mind is the World Trade Center... and why the icon of the wealth and prosperity is not rebuilt is the question which should be asked! because by not rebuilding the original WTC America has proved to the world that they have given in to the whims of Osama bin Laden... that America is afraid and that the people of America is afraid.
These were superb buildings. The ideal solution for Ground Zero.
You can knock them down, but they will always be rebuilt.
Rebuild the Twin Towers.
To all the great citizens of New York, while driving in an around your city, delivering product from wisconsin, I have admired many beautiful structures, within your city. However, the twin towers have always looked so very special. As I live a mere 900 miles away, I can still feel the emptyness and void that will never come back, as long as the w.t.c. towers are gone. We must do the right thing, to show the rest of the world, even if by example, that we will not cower in the face of our enemies.
Hello, I'm from Auckland, New Zealand and I'm 15 years old. One day I wish to live in New York city and it would be a truly amazing thing if these towers were rebuilt instead of the so called 'Freedom Tower'. I was only young when 9/11 occurred, but the day still rings out to me and will always remember waking in the morning and finding watching those shocking images, I still check this website everyday for updates. So please for the sake of us all, LET'S REBUILD!!
I think that rebuilding the Twin Towers is by far the most satisfying dedication to the memory of what really happened on 9/11 and offers the most vivid proof of American values and spirit of perserverance in the face of great challenge. The message of "When you try to destroy America we will just rebuild stronger and better" is stongly evoked by rebuilding the Twin Towers. This is EXACTLY what Americans want and need to say in the face of our enemies. DO THE RIGHT THING!
I started studying the 9/11 attacks a year ago when I was 14. I believe that the Freedom Tower is telling the terrorists that took our American landmark they won. If they build the Freedom Tower, we will never have our building back that they took from us. We need to bring back the World Trade Center, taller and stronger than ever. We need to let the terrorists know that we will come back with Twin Towers that were better than before. If we build the freedom towers, they won.
the original WTC were the most beautiful buildings ever built. so powerful yet graceful. they must be re-built. jason. uk.
The Freedom Tower is not American. It will only be considered an unwanted shell that stands next the most emotion-dwelling site in this nation. The Freedom tower design is space-like and has akward angles with a fourty story skeleton above its sixty story base. Bring back what Alkida tore down. DO NOT LET THEM WIN! Do not build the Freedom Tower. I am only fifteen years old, but I understand that we will lose our phsycalogical, and physical war, if we do not rebuild what they have taken away.
