The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
Let the will of the people be heard!
I loved the World Trade Center it was the best. I will never forget my first visit in 1975, it was Girl Scout week. Please lets rebuild the the beautiful towers again. I want New York to look like New York again. Dont let the terrorists win.
yes, we need to build our towers back to let everybody know that we will not be stopped by the evil. we should have a memorial by the wtc but build them back so that once again we can have our best skyline shot in the world back
The Freedom Tower is a blunder of ineptitude.
The Twin Towers should be rebuilt like they were. That is the only fitting memorial for all the lost ones.
Rebuild. Everyone thought of them as ugly, giant, rectangles; but that's what needs to be there. Not some gigantic glass tombstone.
the freedom tower is laughable. it will be nothing more than a giant trophy in the sky to let the terrorists know that lower manhattan's skyline looks the way it does because they have won. there is nothing unique, or even remotely creative about the freedom tower. sure, the twin towers were bland, gray boxes.. but they proved to be symbolic for everything big and bold about new york and the united states. the freedom tower will prove to be nothing more than a reminder of our pathetic weakness.
i was on a secont floor with my dad and i was the only survivor of my family i am 12
show the world how GREAT the USA is now and forever
should build it the same with 2 differences taller and stronger

The best thing we as a nation can do, is to honor the people who lost their lives in that tragic event and our soldiers who continue to fight for our freedom - by rebuilding those twin towers bigger and stronger than ever before and to show the rest of those in this world who oppose us, that we will not be deterred by anything, or any act, to destroy what and who we are. Because we are the United States of America.
As an architecture student, I was not fond of the design. However that is not the point. From the moment I watched them fall, I believed they should be rebuilt to the exact same specifications as the originals. I still feel that way.
I couldn't agree more!!! I went to the WTC in 1995!...they took us up to the top floor!...and then later...up to the roof!!! It was LITERALLY one of the most amazing experiences in my life!...and one of the most beautiful sights you will ever see! But now...this view no longer exists!...lets bring it back!!!
Dear Governor Spitzer, those towers, should have been back up and standing three years ago! Sir, you need to wipe up this mess, sieze control of the site, compensate Silverstein and send him on his happy little way because this is bigger than just him, put a real American like Trump in charge, and build them back 9 feet 11 inches taller and stronger than they were before! Your State is home to NEW YORK CITY, need I say more? Respectfully Dan Hollenbush USN
Put the towers back up the way they were but add a few floors. Show them we can come back bigger and stronger.
I am a New Yorker and serving as a TSgt in the AF. The main reason I joined the military was to serve and protect. As a New Yorker, I feel that the only proper and correct thing to do is rebuild the towers just as they were. As a United states military member, its our nation's duty to rebuild the towers as a symbol to all those that died, the love ones left behind, and to those that took the fight to those that wish us harm. What better way to say to the rest of the world that we will not yield?
PLEASE bring back the twin towers. And make them the tallest and most beautiful buildings in the WORLD!
Too right! In the long term, a rebuild will tell these terrorists that they do not win!
To the decisionmakers of Manhattan: "Capture" is a theory developed by Nobel laureate economist George Stigler. Capture occurs when those charged to act in the public interest (namely, our elected officials) end up systematically acting in favor of vested interests (namely, the oligarchy of local businessmen).
This is an opportunity to prove that "capture" is the exception, not the rule. Please, for once, act in the public interest. It isn't as hard as at seems; just listen to the people.
i agree that the twin towers should be built again as they were ..they were and still are an iconic symbol of nyc and americas dedication to freedom and independence.we want them back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more - we need the Twin Towers rebuilt and even larger than before! The "Freedom Tower" simply does not measure up at all - look at the stats! The Twin Towers were 110 stories tall and encompassed 8.6 MILLION sq. ft. of floor area dedicated to the heart of our society, a strong & free capitalist economy leading the World - hence the name "WORLD TRADE CENTER"! The Freedom Tower? Only 102 floors and just 2.6 million sq. ft. of floor space.
I think we should rebuild the twin towers exactly as they were.
I believe that we should rebuild the Towers the way they were, the way they will always be remembered.
I strongly believe that the Twin Towers should be built again. Its what the people really want. I mean building the freedom tower is not the solution. That tower looks odd and its not new york type. I grew up admiring the two most beautiful towers in the world.
From the beginning the plan should have been rebuilding the Twin Towers.
Put the towers back! That other plan is urban blight. The only right thing to do is return the skyline we ALL grew up with. The Freedom tower has nothing to do with greatness or freedom. It only serves to prove our transition from a world power to a bunch of cowards.
We MUST rebuild the towers, stronger than before. I visited them in the 6th grade, back in the 70's, and what a sight! Awesome towers, unlike anything I had ever seen. You could look down from the 107th floor, face against the glass, down on tiny ants that were cars. The people were so small they were specks. The proud towers were an everlasting symbol of America, which is why they were attacked. Rebuild to stick it to the terrorists and Socialists who hate America.
My father grew up in New York City and I spent a lot of time there as a kid visiting my grandmother. I went to school in New Jersey, and went to the city on many occasions. I live in Maryland now, and we usually go to New York city every December for Christmas. I loved the Twin Towers, and feel it would be a major statement to these terrorist if we we rebuilt the towers, however long it took.

The NYC skyline is like no other (before and after 9/11). One of the things that make(made) it that were the twin towers. As long as an extremely respectable memorial is constructed (similar to that which was planned for Freedom Tower), I don't see why they SHOULDN'T be rebuilt to the way they were, only stronger. What's the difference if you work on the top floor of one of the twin towers or on the top floor of a building (Freedom Tower) that's going to stand 1776 feet tall???
Rebuilding our Towers is what we MUST do! GOD BLESS OUR BELOVED COUNTRY! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Rebuilding the "Twin Towers" would prove to the rest of the world that " You may knock us down, but we will always end up STANDING TALL!"
GOD Bless America,
