The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.
Click above for more comments that rebuke the cynicism that tried to replace the Twin Towers and failed.
Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
I was fond of the Twin Towers from day 1 despite never being able to visit them. On 911, I was empty ever since, losing my favorite buildings to Osama (Laud) and his jihad goons! We should stop choosing sides over Israel and Palastine and deny them any trophy to choke off their recruits for this. The Pit in NYC makes me empty and is a trophy for Laud, and if the Twins are not returned, then Laud wins! The Iraq war only helps Laud to win further more support! IN YOUR FACE MR. LAUD! REBUILD!!!
Yeah, the freedom tower is a nice tower and would look nice... elsewhere!!!
The WTC site needs to be rebuilt as it was except with bigger towers, 1776 feet tall each for instance so that NYC's famous skyline can be restored to all its glory and the western world can put a big finger up to all that would try to destroy the freedom we have!
I never got chance to visit the original twin towers but have been to NYC 3 times since and it really is a tragedy that they may never return.
I am so glad to add my name here. I spent half my life in New Jersey and loved the towers, always taking family and friends to the observation area. Even though I now live in Idaho I say: Let's put them up again!
do it right
Let us have none of this translucent icy glass garbage pilfer on our country's streets. What was once can be again.
It is not an impossible project. Better security and safety features are available, and we're not wanting for construction workers and all the skilled labor required for such a project. Nor are the funds lacking. Two towers side by side, and that crazy big antenna topping them off. I still see them in my mind's eye every day. Things can never be exactly as they were, but pride, achievement and ingenuity have no shelf life. Twin towers please!
Thank goodness this has been started. All I ever thought should be built on the spot was a replacement but better than the first. Keep up the work.
Restore the New york skyline to what it was before those cowards came along. It would be a tribute to all those who died on 9/11.
I always wanted to go to the "twin towers" since I was a kid, I did it a year before 911. I believe they shuld be rebuilt again in the same way they stood before that day. Building something else would mean nothing but money spent. I would love to see the world trade center again...the way it was.
As it has been said, before the Twin Towers are a monumental part of New York history. In my opinion building one tower ruins the whole concept of "twin towers" and the only wright way to honour those that passed away on that horrible day, is to remember them and the Twin Towers, as they were: tall and proud bringing joy in every persons' heart.
If we are going to rebuild we need to do it right.
It would leave a scar on ny to not have a the twin towers rebuilt.
Please rebuild the towers. Make them a little taller.
Nothing would give me more pleasure than to rebuild the towers exactly as they were and to show the world and the terrorists that no matter what they do they cannot destroy us. The more they attack us the harder we will come back.
i was in newyork this year ( aug) and i was really missing the two great gaints that used to be standing up as a solder and which was well known by any one in any country. It was struck by terror and in reply i think we have to rebuild to shows them how weak they are and how united we are ( rest of the non terror world). this is a great opportunity to express our support.
Forget about this freedom tower or the reflection puddles, let's rebuild them, bring the skyline back the way it was meant to be. Take the first floor of each tower and have an awesome memorial set up. Not building these towers leaves us defeated. These towers where often looked at as two ugly square bldgs. but thier beauty was not fully appreciated until they were gone. Please bring them back as they where before only strongly, and we as a country will be stronger for that. Thank You, God Bless.
Im from williamsburg Brooklyn i had a very good view of the twin towers i went to high school two blocks away from the twin towers. it was a symbol of new york my home. those people messed with my home and the slow response is just as painful i say put it back up give people some work and make it better and stronger than ever.
It is the right of every New Yorker and American, to have a day in what is built at ground zero.
My prayers and thoughts are with the people that immediately suffered from this horrible act. My God bless and keep you and your loved ones.
Build it back better and larger. Let Donald Trump do it and not some committee.
Build them 9'11" taller.
The politicans of today are not going to pay any attention to what the people want, they are going to do what they want to do about all things except at election time, and I am speaking about both sides of the isle.
Ten Years Later - The plan to mark the 10th anniversary of the attack upon America.
i had worked on this project as a cost estimator and change order specialist for the port authority of NY & NJ. i want to see 2 TOWERS when i am getting ready to land.
