The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

In my opinion if New York does not rebuild the towers the terrorist have won this battle. I think the towers should be built back better and stronger as a memorial to the people who died there on September 11.

I believe that by not rebuilding the Twin Towers we will make a very bad mistake. We will be saying that the terrorists have won we rebuilt the Pentagon. After the White House was burned down after the 1812 war it was rebuilt. Why not the Twin Towers?

It should never have been an option otherwise. And they should have been rebuilt in record time.

The way you discourage graffiti is to have it removed in the shortest amount of time possible!

I think to not rebuild the Twin Towers is an act of cowardice by our political leaders. I would be first on line to work at the top floors of the buildings.

Rebuilding them as they were sends a clear message, and its time to send that message.

The Twin Towers was integral to the NY skyline. We should build what we want, not let terrorists determine our future.

New York, without the twin towers, is a defeated city.

I was 8 on September 11, 2001. I did not know very much at the time. As the years passed, the twin towers kind of grew on me. Now, I've became a really big fan of them and wish that they were still standing... as a huge fan of the once glorious WTCs 1 and 2, rebuild them and not just that, make them higher, stronger, heck, make them the tallest buildings in the world, telling the terrorists " Don't screw with the twin towers."

Let us not bow our heads and build a replacement complex that's only a shadow the size and importance of the original World Trade Center.

I never visited New York, but one thing I was fascinated about were the twin towers! I think the twin towers were like the "trade mark" of New York. When you talked to anyone about New York, the first thing you'd visualize were the twin towers. I really think that the rebuilding is the right thing to do, to honor the victims, the families and the city! Please restore the NY skyline, not only for the US, but for the whole world!

the original twin tower buildings were a part of our majestic new york city skyline.they are sorely missed along with all of the heros that died there, too.the world trade center brought all races, colors and creeds together into a community-like working environment.the twin towers represented strength for new york city.build them back with a 100% safer infrastructure!God bless.

if we rebuild the original towers, it will show our resolve as a country.

Please replace the original Towers, but taller...so that we can give a 2 digit salute to the "folks" who will never see 72 virgins, which will let me reclaim my birthdate as a happy occasion and tell the world that the Radio City Rockettes will be a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony to announce that "We're back!!!", with their best high kicks. God bless our President, country, military and patriotic citizens.

We should rebuild the towers and put rocket launchers at the top of them so we can shoot down anything comin at them. I was in Manhattan on 9/11 and I can say that even after the years of fear that I have worked through I STILL think we should REBUILD THE TOWERS!!!!!!!!

It would be a great thing for our entire country if the same style and size building could be built. I do not like the weird, pointy alternate designs at all. God bless NYC!

Looking forward to get the PATH train at WTC station, in a sunday morning, to go to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church - Newark - like I used to do when living in New York, 1n 1999.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
