The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.
Click above for more comments that rebuke the cynicism that tried to replace the Twin Towers and failed.
Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
Nothing would be better for the area than rebuilding the towers.
I want the twin towers back- then new york city will be whole again. They should be rebuilt to defy the terrorists.
I just want to express my support for the rebuilding of the towers. I'm very excited about it.
The Freedom Tower is an absolute disgrace to this country, and to the city of New York. We need to rebuild the towers, bigger, safer, and better. That is what will show the terrorists what America is all about.
I am a Patriot first and an American citizen before I am a member of any political party. The only way back to victory is rebuilding the towers even more magnificent then before, as well as safer architecterally!!! I used to think no one would be brave enough to work in the towers again, but in 5 years I feel differently. I think that better engineering would reassure most people to come back. In honor of the hallowed ground there werein our fellow Americans spirit's were not destroyed but soar
Build it better, bigger, stronger to prove to the cowards that hate us so much that America will not falter!!!
Let's do this!
My son is in 1st Cav, going ot Iraq next month. The events of 9/11 are largely why he has chosen this path in life. He is one among thousands who have chosen to serve their country in time of need. May God bless America, and grant us justice.
Build it and show the world what we can do when we come together....even in the face of tragedy.
If we don't rebiuld,They win!
We need to rebuild the towers, just as tall, just as big, if not higher.
The terrorists will not win.
God Bless our service men and women, and all those that helped and lost loved ones on that day.
Every since 9/11 I look for our Twin Towers in every movie I see that was filmed in the New York area. I would truely like to see the towers rebuilt exactly the way they were and with improvements if possible.
The Towers were beautiful and I truely believe they belonged to all of us.
Thank you and may our Lord bless us all.
I agree that it should be re-built to show the world we stand strong.
REBUILD THE TOWERS. ITS THE AMERICAN THING TO DO.
NEVER BOW DOWN TO COWARDS.
Rebuild them taller. By 9-11-2011.
The Twin Towers played an important part in each and every person's life who perished on that fatal day. Some earned a living there, while others supplied the needs of this miniature city within a city so large as to have it's own zip-code. The only true way to memorialize those we lost is to rebuild the towers as they were with an additional floor on each tower to serve as a memorial for victims.
Very early on I thought we should rebuild the towers exactly as they were before. This would send a message to the Jihadists and the world that we will not be defeated, that we will rebuild and rise again. If twin towers were to be built again, they would need extremely high security inside and outside- that would be my only concern. And would they get tenants?
Build them 50' higher, start with original plans and: make slight exterior improvements, improve structure and building systems, improve fire suppression, improve means of emergency egress, locate memorial in plaza, etc.
The men who still wage war on our country deserve a slap in the face, not a sigh of acceptance. Rebuild the World Trade Towers!
I agree with someone who said that the only response to 9/11 is to not only rebuild the towers the way they were, but to add one more floor! Fight on!
LET'S DO WHAT'S RIGHT!!!
Put my buildings back, and defy any threats. Keep our air space protected 27/7. The twin towers should sybolize STRENGTH.
This "freedom tower" BS has gone on long enough! It is time to do the right thing and by doing so to spit right in the eye of those who would see us cowed and beaten..
PUT EM BACK. ONE FLOOR HIGHER! And DO IT NOW!!
To those who died that day, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. To those left to carry on, may you find strength! for you all shall meet again. And to our Military, taking the fight to the bastards that did this..
Good luck...and.
GOOD HUNTING!!
I strongly agree that the towers should be rebuilt as tall or taller than they were before.
hello i am glad to see that alot of people want the twin towers back not the very ugly freedom tower i think that thing is very ugly and will scare people away from New York City for ever..
thank you...
The towers should be rebuilt, but stronger. It's the best way to show that we are not afraid. Rebuild them!
I think it would be disrespectful to America if they are not rebuilt.
Rebuild the towers and do the right thing, please.
My family and I were there in 1976 and 1986 for the the 4th of July celebrations in our 18 foot boat. We watched the Tall Ships and the fireworks. We anchored near the Statue of Liberty.
I haven't seen NYC since my wife and I flew to Newark on our way back to San Diego. My wife had never been to New York so I said, "Look out the window. There's the Statue of Liberty and there's the World Trade Towers." That was September 2, 2001. I wouldn't want to see anything else in Manhattan.
we will rise again...
I live 70+ miles away from Ground Zero, but work less than a block away. It is depressing to not see the 2 proud towers standing there anymore. My Grandfather worked on the towers at some point during construction. The Twin Towers always made me feel good every time I saw them from any angle and any distance.
I want to see them again.
Rebuild the towers, doing so will show that we are not afraid and that we can stand up!
