Those towers not being rebuilt will leave a huge void in the American psyche. My wife is a native New Yorker, and although she doesn’t say much, I can see that the big hole in the skyline is like an exposed nerve. The towers need to rise again like a phoenix from the ashes!
I was born and raised in NY (Lindenhurst, LI, NY). I visited the WTC in Feb. 1982 and took a tour from one of the observation decks on the 107th floor.
The WTC needs to be rebuilt better than it was before! NO TERRORIST MONUMENTS!
Please leave a portion of the devastation caused by the suicidal attack so that there will always be a visible memory of that horror. I saw the site about three years ago and no pictures can do justice to the feeling when you stand there in person.
put them back the way they were – put them back they belong there – we could still include the freedom tower – what a message it would send – the twin towers and the freedom tower
I grew up in Queens with The Towers in my living room window’s view, while being built. I’ve long since moved away from NYC. The day of the attacks was one of the most horrible days in my memory. The only way to make things right is to rebuild them.
Anything less should be unacceptable to us as a nation & the rest of the world.

If the Pentagon can be rebuilt back to it’s original design then why not the Twin Towers. Did anyone suggest leaving a hole in the Pentagon for a shrine, or taking the opportunity to modernize it with some ghastly glass and metal structure…I don’t think so. Is that portion of the Pentagon destroyed in the attack now sitting empty with people in fear of a similar attack…I don’t think so. The Twin Towers were one of the worlds major landmarks, the world needs them back, period.
The Twin Towers were always two of my favorite buildings.Some may criticize that they were too simple and boxy, but who cares? They were still beautiful. I never actually saw them in person, but I always wanted to. Immediately after 9/11, I wanted them to be rebuilt taller and stronger, and with a memorial of course. That was always the most obvious solution.
Why did we choose the Freedom Tower? The LMDC claimed that rebuilding the Twin Towers was the most impractical solution, but it really is the only solution. The are far more beautiful than anything that came out of the LMDC’s design contest. They were all brute ugly. The Freedom Tower looked like a twisted junkyard.
I never even knew much about the Freedom Tower until I looked it up online a bit after when Trump said his opinions. He may have backed out of the fight, but he motivated me and many others. The new Freedom Tower is a lot better than the original, but it’s still not good enough. All the other buildings don’t match. This plan doesn’t even deserve to be called the World Trade Center. There are only two buildings that can be called that.
Instead of trying to finish the Freedom Tower and get the job done fast, let’s get the job done right. The LMDC is what wasted all of this time. The Freedom Tower is a disgrace to America. It just doesn’t belong. Not here. Not at Ground Zero. We must rebuild what was there before.
Thanks to all who put much time (and tears) into this effort. Remarkably,it came to this, rather than our ‘officials’ realizing the obvious long ago. But perhaps this was meant to be – “ordinary” citizens taking the in-
iative for the common goal.
Throughout history, many destroyed landmarks have been rebuilt: the White House, London Bridge, whole cities (like San Francisco). Even the wing of the Pentagon damaged on 9/11. What is preventing the Twin Towers from being a part of that?
Enough is Enough. Rise Up and REBUILD the Twin Towers.
I was in Manhattan on that horrible day and I have been advocating for rebuilding for 20 years. Better late than never.

The current proposed project that has been approved in my opinion is a trophy to the terrorists!
I believe the twin towers must be restored like the originals & better protected against future attacks!

It will be an absolute disgrace if those towers aren’t replaced, taller and prouder than ever.
