My father passed in january 2004, he was raised in Manhattan and attended Holy Name and Commerce schools, I live in North Carolina. I will never forget the pain and horror of the evil that took the twin towers that day, and surely will never forget his expression and sorrow that consumed us as a family.
Unfortunatelly,I moved to NYC from west coast a year after the tragedy. It’s funny to say that I was inspired to come and be part of this city by that terrible event that took a place at the end of the summer of 01…
Needless to say,I have never had a chance to visit WTC,but I was always fascinated by NY skyline and Twins. To me,NYC is not that same city everyone knows and dreams to be part of it,without Twin Towers…therefore,I support rebuilding the towers as they once stood…
It is a shame the Twin Towers will not be rebuilt because of politics. What needs to be done is to reclaim nyc’s skyline to what it once was. The current plan only makes the terrorists victorious while making us new yorkers the real losers. Shame to pataki and the all master planners. They’re simply kissing the asses of the people who destroyed a symbol of ny and giving us a slap in the face by saying “Let’s built something cheaper.”
I rather have the old towers than the crappy one. I dont like the freedom tower becuz whats freedom about it?? >.> They should just remake the old twin towers with some different material such as a memorial chapel for all the ppl who have lost their lives.
The NYC skyline is like no other (before and after 9/11). One of the things that make(made) it that were the twin towers. As long as an extremely respectable memorial is constructed (similar to that which was planned for Freedom Tower), I don’t see why they SHOULDN’T be rebuilt to the way they were, only stronger. What’s the difference if you work on the top floor of one of the twin towers or on the top floor of a building (Freedom Tower) that’s going to stand 1776 feet tall???
I loved the World Trade Center it was the best. I will never forget my first visit in 1975, it was Girl Scout week. Please lets rebuild the the beautiful towers again. I want New York to look like New York again. Dont let the terrorists win.
Building anything else on the World Trade Center site would be nothing but a monument to terrorism, period. Put the towers back, but this time better, stronger and bigger, but visually the same. That would be paying the ultimiate respect to every single individual who lost their life that terrible day. Make large structual blocks bearing the picture and biography of every person lost, and that would be the tribute I’d bet every single last one of them would want.
As long as the towers are gone. the vicious “scar” of September 11, 2001 will always remain on New York.
We must restore our pride and glory and rebuild the twin towers, and build them taller.
All we have done since 9/11 is let the terrorists succeed. bin laden was not captured and we went into iraq who did not even attack us. The taliban is starting to regain power in afganastan. Utop all of this the Twin Towers space is still emptey. We MUST rebuild the WTC.
I ask what better momument of rememberance could we as a country build other than the Twin Towers? What else would be fitting? A Lobby in each to commemerate the old and added floors with space for the tokens from loved ones who lost their family members in the observation decks. What better symbol of our endurance and resiliance could we ever hope to build? Build them back higher stronger and more boldly, not some monstrous compromise of design and disunity.
I think the towers should be rebuilt, but left as an empty shell above the floors where each were hit;this to represent the emptyness in our hearts.I would make the floor just below each of these floors a museum with a see through window to enable people to look upwards into the emptyness. On the top of each building, I would place a light to shine into the sky to represent all the soles we lost. Our loved ones lost their lives in the buildings, not the footprints. Our skyline would be restored
rebuild the towers it may take some time to finally fill them but it will be a truly great tribute to our fellow americans who we lost and knowing it’s our tribute to their american spirit that is how we in this great country can show the world how we will not fear islamic extremists, terrorists and all who support them but our love for our fellow countrymen soars as high as these great towers stood truly it is how i know many feel i salute america thank you tom
let me start by saying i worked in the twin towers when they were first built, and many never liked then until the first terroristt attack, we use to say they look the the boxes the empire state building and the chrysler building came in, but in time we grew to love them. now they they are not there anymore its like looking at someone with two front teeth missing, so i am not sure why they are still not back about 6 years they should be our leaders should want to see them again bigger.
I was looking outside of my 5th grade window when the PA announcement came on that there was a city wide emergency. From uptown the windows were facing downtown and you could see the smoke and you could hear the sirens. They should rebuild the Twins and make them higher and show them of our American spirit. Rebuild my beloved New York Skyline!
I have been living in Queens, N.Y. since 1982 and have been a part of the trade center since then. I would love to see the rebuilding of the World Trade to show that you cannot break us.
I used to work in WINDOWS on the WORLD. I lost alot of good friends and I lost a woman who I was looking to marry. I have never been willing to talk about what happen to me just before 9/11/01. I will say this i have and a proud New YORKER. I fell that if our government fell that we need a freedom tower. Then they are right. I just fee that that there tower should not be built on top of our love ones. I hope that we could rebuilt and show the love of our fallen ones by showing the towers r back.
Fill the aching gap in the skyline! Every morning commuting from NJ, the Towers were the visual object for my day’s blesssings “God bless this day and all that’s in it” is what I would say looking at the Towers. I used to see the Towers from a 2nd floor window in my NJ house. I looked for then when I crossed over Rte 3 to the grocery store. I still look for them, I still try to bless my day searching for something that held as much meaning. There is none. My heart aches at the empty sky.
The fact that we haven’t put the Twin Towers back up in nearly 6 years is completely unacceptable. We (as Americans) should go out of our way to reconstruct these symbols of Americanism as soon as possible. There’s no reason why the towers cannot be reconstructed, with appropriate safety and security improvements, within 2 years.
Let’s put aside the politicking and immediately put up these two great symbols of American success — the Twin Towers.
I want my towers back! I feel for the famlies of all the lives lost. This is the only way to show all the world that we will show respect to those who died.
Rebuild the Twin Towers & reopen them on an anniversary of 9/11 & proclaimed it a national holiday–“freedom day.” Visiting them would be like an pilgrimage for all Americans! Office space would be sold out there–it would be very patriotic to be apart of the TTs resurrection. I have been writing letters to prez candidates asking for support in rebuilding the towers–I am not sure what else to do. I can think of nothing more honorable to the memory of those victims then to rebuild what was lost.
I agree that the Twin Towers should be rebuilt as they were (only stronger) to show those who are out to kill us, that though they may kill some of us, they cannot kill our spirit.
I’m not an absolutist about this, but this design-by-committee solution that we have now is nothing worthy. If something completely awe inspiringly spectacular were to come forward, I would say “Let’s Do It,” but nothing has. Even with a list of respectable architects, it is ultimately all a hodgepodge of special interests that have cobbled together this plan. Either give one architect control to design something that will stun the world, and if not, then rebuild the towers.
Although the towers are reminders of the terrible events of that day, I have always thought they should rebuild stronger versions of what stood there. It just isn’t New York anymore. I don’t know if rebuilding the towers will heal as much as some say, but Manhattan looks like it’s missing it’s two front teeth Evertytime I look out my window and the Freedom tower design is not in the spirit of NYC. I would like to see something close to what stood, not the Freedom tower.
We need to rebuild the original towers as they stood and not settle for some hideous structure.

New York use to have the greatest skyline in the world. Now its not even in the running. Rebuild our city so Bin Ladin doesn’t win.
Rebuild the twin towers higher than before to show the world that america is the true leader of democracy under GOD.

RESTORE THE TOWERS ASAP!!! But make them new and improved with environmental measures requiring less energy to operate!
I have been living in Queens, N.Y. since 1982 and have been a part of the trade center since then. I would love to see the rebuilding of the World Trade to show that you cannot break us.
we need to rebuild if not the same better lots better show the rest of the world who we are
Please REBUILD the Twin Towers as the ultimate, permanent sign of both New York City’s and America’s remembrance, resolve and resilience.
I used to work in WINDOWS on the WORLD. I lost alot of good friends and I lost a woman who I was looking to marry. I have never been willing to talk about what happen to me just before 9/11/01. Rebuild, we can have a wtc and memorial in one, and of course a slap to the terrorists

It’s the right thing to do to show we’re not going to cower in fear. Rebuild the Twin Towers.
