The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
Rebuild the towers as they were, not a new design, but exactly as they stood before. Standing resolute in the New York skyline. My previous employer had a branch office in one of the towers, and were lucky enough to have all gotten out. Unfortunately, one of our agents, Marsh & McClennan wasn't as lucky. We can never forget what was done to our citizens and who did it. NEVER FORGET
I used to work in WINDOWS on the WORLD. I lost alot of good friends and I lost a woman who I was looking to marry. I have never been willing to talk about what happen to me just before 9/11/01. I will say this i have and a proud New YORKER. I fell that if our government fell that we need a freedom tower. Then they are right. I just fee that that there tower should not be built on top of our love ones. I hope that we could rebuilt and show the love of our fallen ones by showing the towers r back.
I'm from Portugal and have a NY skyline poster on my bedroom wall and an american flag on the front wall. I say i want the Towers back, so we (both the US and the West) show the terrorists that they don't have the power to change our freedom!
To see the towers rebuilt would show the world that America is a nation that is not afraid. America should stand up against the terrorists and build them back just as they were. They should not admit defeat.
Let's rebuild.
Do what is right! Do the same people of America that stood together on the day of 9-11 deserve any less?! Let our soldiers have something beautiful and meaningful to come home to.
I was born and raised in New York. I worked for 22 years at the American Stock Exchange. After being laid off from the exchange when Nasdaq took it over I moved to Florida with my family. The tragic news of 9/11 broke our hearts. The only way to defy the bastards that destroyed the WTC would be to rebuild it exactly as it was. It would be a double F-you to them.
i am extremely disapointed that there are no “twin towers” being looked at. how can you not rebuild them? they are a historic symbol of america, our pride and accomplishment, and you will let that get thrown away? i can understand a little redesigning but not just forgetting that they were there. that is exactly what “american haters” want, for us to just bow down and say, “ok, we’ll change because you have slapped us”. where is our american pride, our resiliance when hit to say "you didnt win because they still stand, and we are stronger now". the towers were a symbol of new york that made all americans want to come and see the great city on the bay, even if they were not from there. they made new york a pillar of greatness above all other cities. a single building is nothing more than ordinary no matter what the design, dallas has buildings, but i dont care to drive and see them. people from all walks of life dream of seeing the twin towers up close, and hold that image of them as "the gates of freedom beyond the statue of liberty" to so many, they represent the greatness this country stands for, and it is unfair to rob our future generations of this awesome feeling they bring all because we dont stand tall and rebuild them stronger than before. i ask...i beg, preserve our pride, preserve our accomplishments......preserve our twin towers. rebuild, dont replace. thank you and god bless america!
We cannot let this happen-- anything less than fully rebuilding is letting the terrorists change America, their victory.
The only lasting memorial to the victims of 9/11 - and to restore a symbol of who we are as a free nation - would be to rebuild the twin towers even stronger than they were before.
I fully support the plan to re-build the twin towers in their original glory. To do anything less would be an abomination. Send a strong and clear message that we will never be defeated!
I believe that the towers must be made exactly how they once were, to show that even in the face of sheer devastation the American resolve can shine through as bright as ever. And freedom tower? pffft.. Bring back the glorious momuments to the glorious city of New York.
Billerica, MA loves NY
Build them exactly the way they were. Make the city look the way it looked before the attacks.
i wish i could help some way
Rebuild the Twin Towers!
I'm from Brazil and my dream is know THAT TOWERS the TWIN TOWERS, not the FREEDOM TOWER!
THE US CAN'T LET IT HAPPEN.
YOU MUST SHOW THE POWER THAT ALL AMERICA HAVE!
REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS RIGHT NOW!
It is absolutely imperative that we rebuild the towers in order to show reverence to the lost and perseverance to the living!
New York use to have every thing before. The skyline was perfect, but without the World Trade Center it looks empty.
We must rebuilt the Twin tower and we want our Towers Back.If we want our Towers back we must stop the Freedom Tower from taking that space. Please people lets do what ever we can but we have to have them back.
Rebuild them please.
I am a native of Brooklyn, I now live in Athens Greece, but NY has never left my heart. I believe that the towers should be rebuilt, I agree that doing anything else but that will diminish a legendary city and a breath taking skyline.
the time to rebuild the towers is now.
The city is not the same without the towers. They are New York.
We think it would be the right thing to do.
Please give us (and the rest of the world) back the twin towers. I visited the WTC in December 2000 and [thought I would] see them again (not only at pictures or on TV). I hope it`s not too late...
REBUILD the twin towers exactly where they stood. Make the outside 100% identical to the originals. And use state-of-the-art architecture in engineering to prevent any chance of another disaster, if someone even 'accidentally' hits either tower with a plane.
REBUILD our center of commerce!
REBUILD our twin towers!
What better way of sticking it in the terrorists faces?
What better way to say "SCREW YOU COCKROACHES!"
It would say "you will never win against America".
MAKE IT SO
I traveled the London tube network the weekend after 7/7. I didn’t have to and it did feel uncomfortable, but I just thought it was important to do so. It was a personal way for me to show defiance. I want the classic New York skyline back. I stood and admired the Twin Towers in 1994, but didn’t go up them. I want to come back someday and see New York from their rooftops.
I thought this battle had been lost; it would seem from your recent postings that there is still a chance. Good Luck.
REBUILD!!!!
rebuild the twin towers so i can feel like we won something
In britain since the middle ages, sticking up two fingers at those who wish to harm us has been a strong sign of disdain. Nothing would be more poetic to those who carried out the crimes of that day than rebuilding the twin towers as they were, sticking two fingers up in defiance. We perhaps should have put our efforts into this than trying to invade another country who clearly had nothing to do with this atrocity.
New York, New York and all the rest of the United States of America and especially the "Towers" are real examples of abundant freedom, justice based democracy, and able intellect driven capitalism that is this constitutional republic.... Build the "Towers" and use better engineering than was used before.... Build the "Towers" and "the world will come."
I would most definitely rebuild the towers. People always talk about what great things this nation can do, I think they should stop talking about it and JUST DO IT.
Rebuild the Twin Towers! Don't allow this hallowed ground to become some social-climbing architect's meaningless art project. Reinstate the former glory of the two sentinel towers, rebuild the world-renowned NYC skyline, and, above all, reinstate a sense of perseverance for the future.
Please rebuild the towers! I have always seen them on t.v. and in magazines and stuff but never in real life. I always looked to the towers as a symbol of our freedom. Please dont ever forget them!!
Hi there,
I'm from England - United Kingdom and I say RE-BUILD RE-BUILD RE-BUILD. I, like many millions of others, was deeply affected by the events of 9/11. Building the Freedom Tower would display to terrorists that they have brought about some kind of change to your great nation. Lets all stand tall together and re-build them higher, stronger - and above all re-define the meaning of LIBERTY!! Lets get behind what the Statue of Liberty represents and 'stands for' 🙂
God Bless America
Slap the terrorists in the face and rebuild our towers!
Do it, and add another floor to each to further demonstrate the futility of their actions!
REBUILD them and make them one floor higher like Donald Trump suggested!
Please REBUILD the Twin Towers as the ultimate, permanent sign of both New York City's and America's remembrance, resolve and resilience.
I Love New York!
Rebuild the Twin Towers, maybe just a little taller than before.
I could not fathom the idea of building the tasteless Freedom Tower over the site of such a tragedy. The only way to truly pay homage to the victims and proclaim to the world "We are the American Spirit" is by building the World Trade Center Towers as they were. We owe it to the memory of those lost and to the future of the citizens of New York. REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS!!!!
The Twin Towers should be restored to their former glory almost like the way that they were back in 1973 when the project completed. C'mon, even Donald Trump dislikes the current building plans. That alone should mean something needs to be changed.
