The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
As someone not from NY and when you thought of the city before Sept. 11th, your initial feeling would be that of excitement and wonderment of it's vast skyline. Post 9/11 it's difficult now to think the same way without an evoked feeling of sadness and a longing to once again see those massive twins as they once stood. Ask just about any other US citizen, even those that never visited NY and they too think the towers should be rebuilt just as they were. Listen to the masses..BRING THEM BACK!
As Paris wouldn't be Paris without the Eiffel tower, NewYork is no more NewYork without these two giant sisters in the skylane.
Please rebuilt them !
Shut the mouth of the terrorists that laugh since that dark day !
Erase scars and move onward, America !
I will never forget the day I heard on the radio that a plane had hit one of the towers. My first thought was my Dad (God rest his soul). I wish he were around at the time, to talk to him about it. I feel very sad that the Towers have not been rebuilt or started to rebuild.
I have a hard time believing that the people of the big apple would give up on this rebuilding effort.
Lets get it done people, and build it taller this time, with 2 of the largest U.S. flags ever on top of each tower.
We should rebuild the Twin Towers.
i like the freedom tower...... as long as there is another one exactly the same, right next to it.
we need to rebuild if not the same better lots better show the rest of the world who we are
Rebuilding the Twin Towers is clearly the best way to rebuild New York. There is no better way to prove that the terrorists haven't destroyed us than to continue with business as usual. What is the point of the Freedom tower anyway? To have the largest building in the world? Well there will probably be another building in just a few years to top it, then what. I have never been to New York, but I've seen pictures and those Twin Towers look pretty damn impressive.
I was in New York on 9/11, and within four hours of the events occurring, I overheard a group of people on the street suggesting it was America's fault. They got BOTH barrels! I pointed out that NOTHING justified what happened that morning and that the obligation was on the people of New York to build the towers back as they were, with one exception. Make them twice as tall, twice as wide, and twice as deep. No other action would be better understood - not all cultures are morally equal.
Please listen to the people who understand their spirit best. New York City must recover its belle epoque. The towers must be brought back and the greatest skyline ever needs to stand up once again -- this time forever.
Please make us Americans all happy & show our enemies how strong our God and nation can be, by putting the Twin Towers back where they belong. God bless America!!!
I'm only 19 & live in Rahway, NJ. Twin Towers were very beautiful & tall buildings. I didn't know what happened to the twin towers of 9/11. I lost my favorite buildings. Five years later after 9/11, I know wtc construction had to be rebuilt. The freedom Tower is nasty and must not be built! If FT is built, the terrorists will win their victory. Let's go with Trump's idea & show the terrorists are very mean & thousands of people died from twin towers!!!
Do not back down. Do not build a memorial. Build the towers again, preferably larger than before. Ours must be the culture of productive creation, theirs is the culture of destruction. Rebuilding the towers will send this message across the world.
What are we saying to our enemies overseas? It's been six years, and we still have a hole int the middle of Manhattan. The Towers must be rebuilt- build them stronger, but no farther than that.
How many billions have we wasted on Iraq? We have the money. Rebuld the towers. Repair the damage. Heal our spirits. We can. Why don't we?
Two towers, each 1 floor higher than before for good measure.
The World Trade Center must live.
I am from Australia and I am of a firm belief that even after all the Losses of human life and hurt that many suffered, the twin towers should be rebuilt bigger and better that before and be named the PEOPLES TOWERS.
Andrew
NYC looks naked without them and no artistic or symbolic gesture could ever outweigh the restoration of the site as it stood. If you must change anything, make them taller!
We are the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. We don't back down to acts of terrorism, we stand tall. Let the Twin Towers rise again and show a symbolic measure of strength.
we want towers back...shining in the sky
REBUILD THEM!
new york ...no es new york sin las torres gemelas.... build the twin towers again!!!!!
If you're not going to rebuild the Twin Towers - the real WTC - then just don't build anything at all, other than the memorial, of course. The Twin Towers are beloved by millions, and they're the only buildings that belong there.
rebuild the towers one story higher so that America can rule the skies once again
Rebuild them. One storey higher.
I have been living in Queens, N.Y. since 1982 and have been a part of the trade center since then. I would love to see the rebuilding of the World Trade to show that you cannot break us.
Rebuild what once was... for all the people who risked their lives that day!
I just wanna say one thing: "Manhattan never will be the same, so don't wait, do it - REBUILD! There are still people who want to see the WTC, but they're never gonna make it, so make their dream come true."
To the Elected Officials and Powers of New York,
Gentlemen, are you mad? Your hubris in pursuing the craven and unsightly "Freedom Tower" plan will be your undoing.
It seems that New Yorkers want their twin towers back - As public servants, you should submit to the will of the people in this matter. Any plan other than rebuilding the towers signals a submission to the will of our enemies.
Is that what you'd like to be remembered for?
Tsk,
Trevlin Utz
RESTORE THE TOWERS ASAP!!! But make them new and improved with environmental measures requiring less energy to operate!
Restore the spirit of the American people and the rest of the world!
We need to talk about this more. Don't let them build the Freedom Tower! Show the terrorists that we won't let them change our skyline! Rebuild EXACTLY, except mayebe taller and definitely stronger. I truly feel that this is what America wants. In time, the critics will be fine. Now, there just needs to be some strong leadership to get it done!
Trent
American
Yes! Restore the Manhatten skyline exactly as it was
pre 9/11. What greater testament to American resilience than to rebuild the twin towers exactly as they were.
I was looking outside of my 5th grade window when the PA announcement came on that there was a city wide emergency. From uptown the windows were facing downtown and you could see the smoke and you could hear the sirens. They should rebuild the Twins and make them higher and show them of our American spirit. Rebuild my beloved New York Skyline!
The Twin Towers were a signature part of the NYC skyline, and they are sorely missed. There can be no better way to show courage to our enemies than to replace them as they were or boldy taller.
let me start by saying i worked in the twin towers when they were first built, and many never liked then until the first terroristt attack, we use to say they look the the boxes the empire state building and the chrysler building came in, but in time we grew to love them. now they they are not there anymore its like looking at someone with two front teeth missing, so i am not sure why they are still not back about 6 years they should be our leaders should want to see them again bigger.
rebuild the towers it may take some time to finally fill them but it will be a truly great tribute to our fellow americans who we lost and knowing it's our tribute to their american spirit that is how we in this great country can show the world how we will not fear islamic extremists, terrorists and all who support them but our love for our fellow countrymen soars as high as these great towers stood truly it is how i know many feel i salute america thank you tom
If they were icons as everyone said they were, how can you not build the twins towers where they stood and taller than they were? Anything else shows weakness and the condition of the spirit of this country. The freedom tower states we lost and give up. You really scared us and we don't want to be scared again we might not make it the next time. This country has been thru much worse.
i would like to first introduce my self tirdad gharib a proud american citizen, i shed tears for all of you 9/11 survivors and families may god bless our heros who are in heavean resting in peace but we will never give up we will continue to show the world especially to show the facist islamic terrorist that no one can destroy new york and our great nation the usa , may god bless all of you may god bless mark levin and may god bless our us troops rebuild the twin towers yes indeed very sincerely
Don't just rebuild them! rebuild then 911 feet taller! let the damn islamofascists know that their detestable murderous cowardly acts will not stop this country in its tracks, and that it will rebuild and rebuild better and taller and shinier because this is that this country is all about. Yes, create a memorial site there, but let it nest between two new and taller mighty world trade center towers!
Those towers can't be replaced. They were so iconic, the most iconic skyscrapers in the world, and New York just doesn't seem the same without them.
DON'T LET THEM WIN
We should rebuild the towers. We should dedicate them to all of the people who lost their life. I will never forget.
Build them bigger and better to show the world we will never forget.
Rebuild them bigger than they were to show the terrorists and the rest of the world what Americans are made of.
Build it stronger higher as a monument to all who perished on that day. Never Forget.
Lets build it back as they were to show the world that terrorism wont beat us and will never win.
