The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

DON'T ALLOW THE TERRORISTS TO TAKE OUR LIBERTY AND FREEDOMS. THOUSANDS OF MEN AND WOMEN HAVE DIED OVER HUNDREDS OF YEARS FOR OUR RIGHTS. THE TOWERS SHOULD BE BACK THE WAY THEY WERE, IF NOT EVEN A LITTLE TALLER. I WOULD HOPE WE ARE A STRONG COUNTRY STILL AND ARE NOT FOLDING TO SOCIALIST WAYS.

Build the towers just as they were only taller and station a couple of Marines on the observation deck of one of them with Stinger missles. Make sure they face Mecca while you're at it.

God Bless the US our President, warfighters, firefighters, EMS and police officers.

I love NYC. And I love the NYC Skyline. But as beautiful as the skyline is, its not the same without the twin towers. God forbid, but had the Pentagon been totally destroyed on 9/11 they wouldn't have built a HECTAGON in its place, would they? No! They would rebuild the entire building THE WAY IT WAS. The same goes if the Statue of Liberty were destroyed. They would rebuild it THE WAY IT WAS. That's exactly why the WTC site must be rebuilt THE WAY IT WAS including rebuilding the Twin Towers!

Rebuild the twin towers. Not only that, rebuild them so the height is 1776 YARDS not 1776 feet. To do this will achieve two things:

1) Bring back the title of World's Tallest Building to the US, where it belongs. The US is where the skyscraper was invented. Mention "skyscraper" to just about anyone and they will think "New York".

2) It will serve as a big "F*** You" to Bin Laden and the rest of his camel-f***ing buddies.

I walked through the scaffolding in the 1970s. I commuted via Path and the E train for 10 years. I shopped and hung at the bar up at Windows. It was a significant part of my working home town. I live elsewhere since 1998, but would return. Rebuilding and creating new businesses to thrive in the Towers would be the quintessential American thing to do, including a proper memorial within. No more wrangling over mediocre monuments - build real Towers.

Rebuild as soon as possible. But make more substanial so as not to be as easy to knock down. I lived in Manhatten when they were building those towers and remember the sound of the builders tools. Make them stronger!! The Empire State would not have collapsed.

I never liked the twin towers. The proposed is worse. BUT I believe replacement of the towers is a slash to terrorists’ growing audacity. We cannot allow any outside force to diminish our patriotism.

Only one advantage ever materialised from terroristic behaviour -- we sampled a temporary (too short-lived) sense of camaraderie. We were only Americans!

A city skyline may be added to, but once built, usually never changes. When the majestic twin towers fell on 9-11, I always hoped and always felt that the right thing to do was to build them back again: exactly the same height, same façade, everything. The only thing that should change is their position so as not to build on the original footprint, just stagger them opposite the original layout. The latest building technology should be incorporated as well. Please rebuild them America!

I feel rebuilding the towers nearly as they were, will deliver the message to whoever was responisble, that we the people will prevail no matter whatever the trials they bring against us... and that truth, faith, charity, justice and liberty are not ideas of a forgotten nation.

I went on the WTC when I was a little kid, it had an amazing view, even though I have a faint memory of it. It was my favorite building in New York. Freedom Tower sounds stupid, because most of the world is free now, we've lost our reputation as the free nation 200 years ago. We can't lose to Muslim milatia! Go America! As a teenager growing up in Jersey City, my friends and I would go to Manhattan, via PATH to WTC, and shop and eat.
Every time I return to NY/NJ my heart breaks again seeing the gap in the skyline. Not rebuilding the Towers sends a message "We are weak, you can bully us and our response will be meek".

The Towers were lovely; we all loved them. Build them again, stronger than ever!

I think the towers should be rebuilt, but left as an empty shell above the floors where each were hit;this to represent the emptyness in our hearts.I would make the floor just below each of these floors a museum with a see through window to enable people to look upwards into the emptyness. On the top of each building, I would place a light to shine into the sky to represent all the soles we lost. Our loved ones lost their lives in the buildings, not the footprints. Our skyline would be restored

In the War of 1812, the British burned down the White House. Did we leave a footprint there for perpetual mourning? No, we rebuilt the White House in defiance. We must resolve to rebuild the exact same Twin Towers. We can never let terrorists change the landscape of America.

Living in Connecticut, I drive into or past Manhattan occasionally and, to this day, it still feels like a punch in the gut when I look at the NYC skyline without our beloved towers standing there. It brings a tear to my eyes every time. I can't imagine why anyone would NOT want to rebuild and reclaim what was ours. Until our towers are back where they belong, there will always be a hole in our hearts.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
