The city needs those two towers back up, exactly as they were. Yep it will cost money but it will send a powerful message of recovery.

Rebuild the Twin Towers. Most Americans desire it, demand it and as a nation, NEED it. They should definatly rebuild the Twin Towers. And build them even higher. NY just won't be the same with any other buildings put in their place. I went to NY in 1995 and went up the South tower. It was just amazing.
Seeing those proud, majestic buildings on the skyline again would be so wonderful. A big ya boo sucks to those people who want to scare the USA.

There is nothing more defiant in the face of terrorism than reraising America's symbols of financial might. The only way to have true towers of freedom is to have towers of fearless defiance.

Ever since I was a little kid staying in India I would dream that one day I would get to see the twin towers in person. However that was not to be cause of some maniac who thought he could de-stabilise America by bombs. To restore the glory of NY skyline I say we should rebuild the towers and the new towers should be grander than before. I will never forget that dreadful day. We need to rebuild Three towers with the middle one being larger than the other two-in the shape of a middle finger- as a message to those who did that to us!! Dress and grace the NYC skyline again with a rebuild of the finest buildings that ever stood. New York City just isn't New York City without the gentle giants "The Twin Towers" We need more people that will stand by their decisions to re-erect the most amazing architectual gems in the history of man. Rebuild the 4.4 million sq. ft. Put up another 43,600 windows. Let another 80,000 people come through the observation decks daily, for a second time. I'm only 14 years old, but i don't care if people say i'm too young to comment and so forth. My dream was to feel the feeling of being on top of the skyscraping giants, and to breathe the air 1,350 feet up, and to see the most amazing view in the world. Now, that's impossible. The city of New York needs them back to re-claim it's reputation, not only for that reason, but it would show that the nation isn't afriad to get back up and fight, even when it's knocked to the ground. Again, re-dress and grace the New York city skyline, with a new World Trade Center.

There can be no stronger symbol of defiance to the terrorists and memorial to those killed than to rebuild these magnificent structures as outlined within this plan. Even the memorial gardens and 'rebuilt' remains of the original 'footprints' are breathtaking. Great idea and I really hope you win.This should really go to the public vote across the US, to gauge the REAL majority opinion. If the plan to rebuild was defeated in this way, then I'd be disappointed, but it would at least be fair.

The one comment I hear most arguing against rebuilding is the fact that they will become even larger targets than before. Lets get real folks...no matter what is built, whether large or small, single or double towers, it will be a target. We are FREE, they were a symbol of that freedom. If we allow ourselves to cower, and let those that took the towers and all our citizens from us that day have a tight grip of fear on us, they met their goal. DEFY them! REBUILD THE TOWERS!

Every image of New York today, in film and the press, showing a void where the towers stood is a tribute to the determination of those who brought them down. So would be any subsequent development that does not match the visceral impact of the original. Symbols are powerful and this is all about symbolism; the enemy clearly understands this, why is it eluding the political leadership? Rebuild them bigger, and better, monuments to strength, determination, resilience, and perserverence.

Among all the great buildings within New York City and the island of Manhattan like the Chrysler Building, The Empire State, and Rockefeller Center the Twin Towers were needed to complete the signature skyline. We need them back. And it's time to take action instead of sitting by idly waiting for the freedom tower to be constructed. It does not represent freedom, but fear. Times need to change. There's nowhere to go but on.

New York just isn't New York without the towers and I can't believe we haven't rebuilt them yet. The victims would want us to do this. I think we need to show terrorists that even though they took them away, we can put them right back up again, like an animal that can grow back whatever you cut off. It is my belief that the towers should be rebuilt as the only appropriate symbol of rebirth, defiance and people’s triumph over any tyranny.
It is also my belief that choosing the most controversial and despised design is a smokescreen, hiding the fact that NOTHING is going to be built on that spot. The Statue of Liberty is better-known than the twin towers for New York State. However. the Twin Towers are still an icon and a lot went on in that building. Where are those jobs, now? Restore the buildings, and it restores that many jobs. Restore the buildings, and it restores a major landmark. Restore the buildings - this is our country, and we will show whoever that this is OUR country, and we CAN re-build ourselves over and over and over again.

The 'Freedom Tower' and surrounding buildings are pure abominations. They will appear as nonharmonious shattered silhouettes on the NYC skyline and are in stark hideous contrast to the twin pillars every American and foreigner alike admired and loved.

Bring back the towers as a sign for freedom

It sucks a whole lot not to see the twin towers.

The current design for the rebuilding of the Trade Center is more of a Fear Tower then a Freedom Tower. I sincerely believe that nothing would be more enlightening to Americans and disheartening to the terrorists then to rebuild the Twin Towers, in all their formal glory and possibly even taller.

It would be an extremely wise political statement to the terrorists and the world to rebuild the twin towers. During World War II, the USS Yorktown was rebuilt in 4 DAYS! It was estimated that the rebuild would take 2 months, but thanks to the will of America, it was ready to fight the Japanese at the very next battle. It's time for us to put those towers back in the air and show them we have only been shaken, but NOT defeated.

To not rebuild the Towers only shows that we lost the "war on terror" on the morning of September 11, 2001. Those Towers were America, that's why they were the targets of the attack. The money spent to allow more Americans to die in Iraq can better be spent on newer, stronger, prouder Towers. America's strength is in her industry, rebuilding the Towers demonstrates that strength.

New York just isn't the same without the twins. Build back the towers!! Make New York whole once again!!!!!
