The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.
Click above for more comments that rebuke the cynicism that tried to replace the Twin Towers and failed.
Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
It has baffled me since day one why there was not an immediate groundswell to build them back, bigger and taller and prouder than before. Anything less will be an eternal dishonor.
By not rebuilding, it is showing the world how weak and petty Americans can be. They do not separate us from the elites, to them we are all the same. I still get choked up as I pass that skyline almost everyday and see an empty space. How dare these elite/politicians/special intrest groups believe to know what is best. We have lost our will, the founding fathers and the greatest generation would be apalled at our apathy. This country has a severe case of ADD. Don't let these murders be forgotten.
build the towers!
I can't think of a better way to re-energize Americans to defeat our enemies and the national pride that would be instilled by seeing the Towers rise again.
Please, come together and get this done.Every day wasted is a day that the victims are not honored, and is a day of victory for the terroist/murderers.This is America...nobody does this to our people, and it is time we show the world that again.
I was fortunate enough as a child to watch these towers being built, and to me they were and are every bit as important as the Statue of Liberty. I also agree that the only way to tell all comers that the will of the USA will not break in the face of attack is to put things back as they were and rebuild the towers exactly as they were.
Lets not allow the bureaucrats to use this as an opportunity to create another self serving money pit.
REBUILD THE TOWERS!!!
Rebuild-Recover-Rejoice! When the USS COLE was damaged by terrorist's, the only choice was to repair the ship as she was the day of commissioning. The same should be for the TWIN TOWERS. Our enemy must understand our resolve. GOD Bless American, and GOD Bless New York.
Let's show the world how resolute we are!
What are we afraid of?
If we don't rebuild the WTC Towers, then the people that brought them down will have won. We are America and we need to show the world that we will not give in to terrorism. I believe with all of my heart that the WTC Towers should be rebuilt, to stand as examples of the American Spirit!
Anything else but rebuilding the towers and re-establishing the New York skyline would be capitulating and allowing terrorists to do our urban planning! Let's rebuild the towers and, from their highest point, spit on all islamic terrorists!
In the days after 911, I remember commenting that the OBVIOUS course of action was to rebuild the towers exactly as they were before (in appearance).
The American Public pays the bills but is continually left out of the decision making process. Until the politicians remember who pays their salaries we must make our voices loud and clear: "If you want our money, pay attention to what we say! Rebuild the towers!!"
Rebuild the towers, bigger, taller, stronger. Make sure the jihadis know that whatever they do, we will bounce back stronger every time. We can do this, we MUST do this so they know they didn't win!
I loathe anyone who wants to do less than restore the towers.
yes.it appears the will of the people is to rebuild!! and so it should be!they wiil arise from the ashes in defnance of those that had a hand in bringing them down ! to america-to the world what better remembrance than the 2 towers standing and the sun gleeming off its surface!! Hell no! we want them rebult for all ages and all peoples for all times. a true standing monuments to not only those that died that day but rather our combined resistance to all tyranny.MAKE it so AMERICA! make it so..
Not a Freedom Tower fan. Trade 7 looks great.
As a resident of NJ and former employee in tower 5 the events of 9/11 are forever scarred into my memory. I was able to see the towers from my classroom and as everyone in the area Seeing what happened that day was one of the worst events of my life. Now the thought of the Freedom tower and the other buildings saddens me. Please give us back our skyline, bring back the twin towers in all their glory
I grew up near NYC, the city is incomplete without the towers.
Rebuilding the Towers is the best way to show our enemies that, despite the destruction of 9/11, they've accomplished nothing. Bring 'em back!
as a former new yorker it is the right thing to do. Lets do it!
BUILD THEM BACK!
Rebuilding the Twin Towers seems to me to be the best "in your face" of which I can possibly think.
I have only been to New York once in my life and fortunately for me it was December 26, 1998. I saw the Twin Towers and then The Radio City Rockets that day. To this day I do not know which was the most inspiring.
Rebuild the towers. God Bless!!!
Don't let them take the towers from us, Don't let them prevail.
Rebuild!! At least one story taller each! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Rebuild the towers in the memory of those lost and as a testament to the spirit of this great nation. Let us stand tall and rebuid the towers over and over again if need be!
Let's not cringe and say, "what if they attack again?" Let's stick it in their faces with new twin towers -- even bigger and better than before.
Why is this country losing it's courage? Build the towers back to spec and let's kick all these dirty politicians out of office- it's time to take America back, and there is not a single one of these globalist/billionaire politicians that have such plans, so we must get loud.
Just do it!
REbuilding the twin towers would be a better stand then to build a monument...but two towers with a memorial would be something great.
It makes perfect sense to rebuild the icons of freedom. Rebuild the towers....now !
I lived in Manhattan when the towers fell, and would love nothing more than to return once they are rebuilt. An odd looking structure meant to evoke the Statute of Liberty is just no substititute.
