The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.
Click above for more comments that rebuke the cynicism that tried to replace the Twin Towers and failed.
Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
I am a native new yorker and want the city back the way that it was. Glamorous and stylish with the Twin Towers gleeming again! Screw those terrorists, this is America isn't it!?!?
May the towers rise again in honor of those whose lives were lost.
Anyone remember the old websites of WTC?
Maybe a reminder of who and what was there
by the people who created the websites would
bring back memories of how proud these twin buildings
were to the city.
In an effort to memorialize the old WTC, I collected most of the webpages from archives.
Hope this helps.

Once a New Yorker, ALWAYS a New Yorker. We need the skyline.
Rebuild the Twin Towers so they may pierce the sky again and signify our country's resilience.
The Twin Towers should be built back the way they were and bring back the historic New York City Skyline.
No other buildings could ever replace that view.
YES, build it back PLUS one story taller..........
Rebuild the Towers! That would be a great memorial!
I have always thought the original Twin Towers should be reubuilt and - as long as the families of victims agree - have never seen where the problem lies in rebuilding them exactly as they were before. Don't we want to see those lovely iconic skyscrapers in the New York skyline once more? The design for the new tower is laughable, a travesty. Rebuild these icons and stick two fingers up to the cowards that destroyed them.
The twin towers were always a part of the New York skyline. They need to be rebuilt.
For all those that perished may God have mercy and for us all that survived.
From what we know, from histrory, this is not new but less known.
We should respect and, hopefully, love but not hate as the case seems to be.
Lets look into a better future
I was born and raised in Brooklyn and I could see the towers from where I lived. Let's put them back for the people of America and also to send a message to those against our way of life that we are not afraid.
Allowing terrorists to alter the NYC skyline is a tragic mistake. Rebuild the towers, add a memorial and return the world's greatest skyline to what it was on September 10th , 2001 to show any who would dare think they have the power to do so through terrorism they are wrong and cannot--and will never--succeed.
Rebuild them!
It breaks my heart to see our skyline so empty when need to rebuild our tours , they are the heart of new york , and it show that we can over come anything .
Dear Friends!
I agree with all of you a 100%- World Trade Center shall be re-built and the money that otherwise is wasted and pocketed on the war in Middle East shall be put to build it. My opinion is: build the towers the way they were, in the middle of the complex make a Memorial to all people and hopes that perished on that land, and let all the artists from around the world donate their work, that expresses that artist's 9/11 sorrow, to the Memorial. New York is an APPLE OF THE WORLD'S EYE.
It is an empty space right now. Buil the towers
and it will be filled with honor and pride.
Restoring the twin towers is the greatest tribute we can give to those who lost their lives.
Choosing not to rebuild is choosing to be controlled by terrorists.
The Twin Towers are what NYC chose to have prior to 9/11. We should restore our city and our country to show we have not be defeated and to honor our lost Americans and their families.
I feel strongly that if we don't rebuild the towers exactly as they were, our enemies will have won!
Rebuild the towers, don't let the b_____ds win! Why give them the satisfaction of knowing that they can dictate the skyline of our cities?
If there is any America left in Americans, rebuild the towers. Even taller this time.
We are a nation of builders. It's time to get building.
Rebuild them as they were but taller.
Build them bigger and better than they were!
I remember my last trip prior to 9/11 vividly. We discussed going to the WTC, something I had never done before, but decided "we'll do it next time." Sadly, my next trip was in November, 2001.
Nothing would please me more than to see them rebuilt, looking exactly as they did before. It would be a cause for celebration and slap in the face of our enemies! This Texan knows New Yorkers can do anything they set their minds to and they have my support. I love NY and the Twin Towers!!
Rebuild the towers!
Of course, rebuild the towers. There are no other choices.
In the late 80's and early 90's I rode trains in and out of the WTC on my way to and from work in the old Western Union Building. Nothing impressed me more about the NYC landscape than those two big towers and as I watched their destruction I knew the world had changed forever.
Rebuilding the "Towers" would be a fantastic "in your face" responce to all cowardly terrorist and their fellow traveler "America Haters".
God have mercy on and bless America!!!!!!
