The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.
Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.
TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.
Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.
* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
I don't know of a better way to say we are just as strong as ever and we will not be intimidated by terrorists. I think we should even add a story.
Why wouldn't we rebuild the towers? That is the true American way. We are not defeatist. We have never let another country or fanactic ideology dictate what we do. Those that would not rebuild the towers or offer something less are cowards.
Enough is enough, put the towers back where they belong.
this is America,not Patakiville.
Fight their foolish freedumb tower,it is disgraceful.

I have never been to NYC. As an American, the events of September 11th weighed and continue to weigh heavy on my heart - just like my fellow citizens, I'm sure. A decent respect to the vicitims of that horrible day dictates we do what they ostensibly would want done - to live in Freedom, just as we did before, as we must do now - proudly, publicly, and in the Love of our Great Nation. There can be no finer memorial to those who lost their lives than to rebuild the towers. God Bless America!
Rebuilding the towers is the only way to inform the terrorists that they cannot stop the USA.
rebuild the towers
It's the right thing to do.
Rebuild the towers just as they were. It is a matter of national pride.
We must not let the attacks upon our country keep our fighting spirit suppressed. The towers should be built at least as tall to show that we will not fear. There is no better memorial to those that fell on that day than to rebuild. New twin towers is the best memorial.
Rebuilding them would be a great testament to this nation and our strength. It would also be 2 giant middle fingers to the Islamist who would dare try to destroy our way of life.
I was angry, upset and heartbroken when I watched the attack of the towers that morning on 9/11/2001. As soon as they collapsed I said that we should rebuild them exactly as they were. Anything less, and the terrorists have won. Even if we build a different structure on the site with less than two towers, the terrorists have won because they changed our behavior. We can use today's architectural standards to make the buildings stronger to withstand another attack.
The ultimate sign of the resolve of the United States would be to rebuild the Twin Towers bigger and better than before. Anything else would make the sight permanently demeaned by the destruction of those 19 sons of bitches.
Constructing new buildings that are smaller and less impressive than the originals is making a statement to our enemies that "You can knock down our largest buildings and we won't have the pride to put them back where they were." Buliding smaller, "safer" buildings is a sign of cowardice and, in my opinion, a victory for the enemy. We must show them that we will not be cowed.
I would gladly leave my home and family in Washington State for the time it takes to rebuild the towers. As a contractor it would give me a great amount of pride to be a part of a project that shows the world our determination and will. I say build it and I will pack my tools if you want me. This is the right thing to do.
Take us back to where we belong. Return the towers and build them taller. Return the same design to show the world that we still retain the great qualities we had on Sept 10...that we're still optimistic, generous and looking forward. But build them taller as a warning that we recognize we live in a Sept 12 world and we're stronger, vigilant and resolved. Dare them to come again.
I think that everyone should close their eyes and picture the day that the towers would be restored. Imagine the sense of pride you would feel and see. Just having the towers up would be a great memorial to all that perished. PLEASE GET THE TOWERS REBUILT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's put NYC back the way it was!
IF IT'S NOT REBUILT THE SAME THEY WIN!
We should rebuild them stronger and bigger than before with a memorial for the fallen inside the building.
Rebuild the original towers! I can see adding a memorial site, but if we are such a "super power," we should rebuild those two beautiful buildings. They could be the same height, or even better, make them the tallest buildings in the world.
Send the message to these jerks in the Middle East who hate our life that we are strong, UNITED, and believe in freedom - not tyranny and cowardice!
REBUILD THE WTC buildings!
There is no better way to remember our fallen citizens and to show the world our unflappable resolve. Build those towers; bigger, better, and prouder!!!
Nothing I can think of would restore America's sense of pride and wholeness like rebuilding the Twin Towers exactly as they were.
It would be a statement to the world and to those who mean us harm, that we are the most resilient and courageous people on earth, and that we will NOT be cowed by the atrocities of madmen.
Rebuild the WTC towers as they were, except this time, add one more floor to each building as a memorial to those who perished on 9/11/.

Rebuild those symbols of America!
Bring them back, even bigger than before!
Although the towers are reminders of the terrible events of that day, I have always thought they should rebuild stronger versions of what stood there. It just isn't New York anymore. I don't know if rebuilding the towers will heal as much as some say, but Manhattan looks like it's missing it's two front teeth Evertytime I look out my window and the Freedom tower design is not in the spirit of NYC. I would like to see something close to what stood, not the Freedom tower.
It is the sensible thing to do.
As citizens with family members in harms way . . . we all are concerned. To rebuild the towers seem extremely proper.
Rebuild the Towers 100 feet higher than before! There is no better way to honor those who perished on 9/11. And no better way to make a statement to our enemies that the American Spirit can not be broken!
They should be rebuilt only taller than before.
I think we should rebuild the Twin Towers because it would restore the World famous New York Skyline. Bring the some comfort to the families and loved one of those that lost their lives that day on 9/11. It would show the world we will not be affraid of Terrorist and we will not bow to Terrorism. God Bless America and all americans and God Bless all those who have fallen in service of this country and through their unselfishness, bravery and courage.
Build them as they were and add one story.
Build them as they were! Stop pandering to the Left Wing Idiots like Bloombug, Clintonista, and Scammer.
Why anything else! Building them exactly how they were would stuff it right in the terrorists faces!
I hope it is not too late
Bring them back.
Bring them bigger.
Never smaller.
Bring their silhouette to the horizon.
They are the memorial.
Nothing more needed.
Build a bridge between the two.
Way on top.
Write the names of those who died.
Way on top.
Bring them back.
