The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Let us fight the terrorists on the battlefield, but let us fight them also with our will! There is no better way to strike back at the terrorists and show them that the more they push US, the more we press on!

Building anything other that the Twin Towers is dishonoring to not only those who lost their lives on 9/11, but to our brave military men and women who have sacrificed their lives in defense of our freedom and libery. Rebuild the Towers as they were!!!

What greater tribute than to re-build the towers as they were when so many lost their lives. It would be the ultimate statement that we will not be defeated.

New York City is, among many other things, the capital of comic books, a distinctly American form of entertainment. In the Eisner-winning graphic novel EX MACHINA, writer Brian K. Vaughan has his hero point out that when the White House was burned down during the War of 1812, it wasn't replaced with a memorial structure, it was rebuilt as it was before. There can be no better sign of defiance, or statement that the lives and dreams lost on 9/11 will go on, than to return the Twin Towers to NYC.

The morning they dropped, I turned to my wife and said the best possible thing we could do is rob the terrorists of the sensationalism of it all and rebuild the towers immediately!

No other structures in the world conjure such a grand presence as the Twin Towers. I reject any design the timid and soft pc bureaucrats want to impose upon us the people. Only the Towers belong at this site, at least 150 stories each this time.

I agree let's rebuild the towers as big if not bigger than they were before and restore the NYC skyline. Anything less is a disgrace that is showing the terrorist that they have won. Let's notify the people in OUR government that it is they who must follow our will, and it is not the other way around.

There is nothing I can think of that would send so loud and clear a message to those who planned, executed, and celebrated the World Trade Center's destruction. Rebuilding the towers would unequivocally say to them, "You did not succeed."

It is the only truly American way we can go. We are not sheep to be sheared and spat upon. Americans need this lesson in being American. Especially our kids. We may get bloodied in the battle but we get back up. This is not about arrogance it is about national character. We need to be reminded that God willing we can do anything.
In the 60's when a lot of this incidious weakness began there was a ray of hope in it's midst. It was the Apollo moon landing. This is our mission.

Losing a huge powerful landmark like the WTC was devastating for everyone in this nation...even us here on the West Coast. It's as if a huge molar had been extracted and the wound neglected. Islamic fascists are your enemy...don't ever forget that. The Empire State Building was built in just over a year. We landed on the Moon with a balls and a Sliderule. We can and more importantly SHOULD rebuild the World Trade Center as it stood. NYC needs it's core restored.

Build'em exactly like before, only make them the tallest buildings on Earth; taller than Burj Dubai, Taipei 101, Petronas Towers, or Sears Tower.

I wasn't sure what I thought about this cause, but after seeing the old picture of the two towers, I emphatically agree that the two towers would heal mine and all other broken hearts due to 9/11.

Spit in the bastards' faces, both foriegn and domestic terrorists and all haters of Our God Blessed Republic. Build 'em back stronger, bigger, taller. The WTC Towers have become one of our symbols of Individual Freedom and Liberty! "We the People" must continue to show the world that government - in all its forms - is here to serve Our Will. I'm not an absolutist about this, but this design-by-committee solution that we have now is nothing worthy. If something completely awe inspiringly spectacular were to come forward, I would say "Let's Do It," but nothing has. Even with a list of respectable architects, it is ultimately all a hodgepodge of special interests that have cobbled together this plan. Either give one architect control to design something that will stun the world, and if not, then rebuild the towers.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
