The world was robbed of the 21st-century Twin Towers most of us always wanted.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I truly believe that we should rebuild the twin towers and to increase it's size. The current planned Freedom Towers is not the right choice for that particular building site.

Rebuilding the Twin Towers would send a clear message to the rest of the world that we will not tolerate Terrorists who want to take our freedoms away from us.

I also Love the design of the Freedom Tower but not for that site.

Sincerely Yours,
Thomas LaPrade

Please build an exact replica of the Twin Towers and devote some of the space to a memorial. Let it be a sign to all that we stand united against our enemies. How dare they try to undermine our way of life, freedom and our American dream.

The greatest nation must have the tallest towers. They've got to be taller, and let's make sure we have the TWO tallest sky scrapers in the world - and the best, most honorable memorial money can buy.

I grew up on Long Island. I remember being at relatives in Astoria, & if the night's lighting was right you could see the tops of the Towers. I remember standing up against the side of the Tower's unique architecture and looking straight up in amazement at such a feat of engineering & construction. I remember taking my wife to the the top of the Tower. And I remember watching in horror & disbelief when the Towers came crashing down, my heart burst open that day, life has never been the same.

A complete rebuild of the original twin towers sends a powerful message to the world that America will NOT be intimidated by terrorists and swayed by frightened, politically-correct politicians / policy makers having us believe that the towers should be replaced with an ugly twisted wreck of incongruent angles and call that a 'freedom tower'.

If I were in charge the towers would be rebuilt identically with a few extra floors at the top - Americana...baby...

Put me down for supporting a larger more imposing structure or structures that better reflects a willingness to stand as the leader against extremism as we forge into the New Millenia.

American memorials should be reinforced with a hearty measure of resolve. Rebulding the twin towers is the ONLY way to show that the fascist murderers who attacked us cannot change or destroy our way of life. Let's put politics, money and investment arguments aside for once, especially for those who died on 9/11.
Do the right thing. Rebuild the twin towers.

I’m not really sure why I want to present another target for rabid Muslim terrorists; but I believe that there are other targets on a list somewhere. To not rebuild the towers is an acknowledgment that the rabid Muslims won the day. We shouldn’t allow the empty New York skyline to forever be an icon of that victory. The rebuilding would be ideological response that says stick it you ear!

The solution is simple...rebuild it, but add at least 2 additional stories, which could be used as a memorial. I would make it an excact replica except for the additional height. May God contimue to bless America, and may we continue to deserve it.

Rebuild them just like they were before. My family's business was very close to them, the towers were an icon of that business, and the towers are an icon of New York and America. Better than the proposed new 'design,' which looks like a nightmare. Make a statement - put them back.

Please Note: This petition is meant to provide a forum for this subject alone. It is a petition, not a bulletin board. We will not sanitize controversial remarks if the comments are primarily in support of the petition’s purpose. But off-topic remarks are subject to removal on a case-by-case basis to keep the focus where it belongs. Thank you.

Important Mention: Those who read back over the comments will find that from time to time we have highlighted excerpts to help those who only have time to skim a page get a sense of what people are thinking and feeling. We rarely do that now and it was never a methodical effort, but just a window on public opinion regarding this monumentally important issue. The important thing to know is that no comment matters more than any other. Each one is valued and helps make the case that the public was sidelined on something that mattered so much.

TTA Note: Occasionally a current signature will disappear. When that happens it is because someone who has already signed the petition signs a second time and when the second signature is validated the two are automatically merged and appear in the original chronology. If someone leaves a second signature and comment, it automatically overwrites the earlier placement when the validation link is activated. If it isn’t activated, or it is made using a different email address, there will be duplicate signatures. When we recognize that someone has signed before, we will delete the earlier entry and, if it was verified, verify the new one, since the clear intention is to make the new comment visible. We may decide to manually include the earlier comment at the end of the current message.

Regarding anonymous signatures: Taking a stand using one’s full name is always preferred, but when a name is withheld, the signature and sentiments are still of value. In every case, we have an email address that corresponds with the entry and is kept private.

* Indicates that the signer has not yet activated the validation link, often due to spamblocking software. They are included out of respect for the sincerity of the comments.
