I have visited New York several times since 9/11 and have gone to the site of the tragedy. The New York City skyline was symbolic to me of all this country could achieve. Replacing the twin towers with any other type or style of buildings is akin to finding a perfectly good second wife after your beloved wife has passed on. Good, but never the same. Please rebuild the towers.
I believe that building the towners once again would show our enemies that we are not afraid. That even though they tried to inflict pain and cause chaos. They infact brought our nation even closer and by building those towers again we would symbolize this. So please build the towers once again and show those cowards that even though we may get hit in the gut, we’ll rise and fight with even greater strength.
I visited N.Y. and ground zero shortly after the tragedy. My gut instinct is as the rest, of course go ahead and rebuild as they were, although, recently I have started to imagine how hopeless all of those victims in the towers must have felt as they realized their fate was at hand. whether due to their position in the towers or, they Made the ultimate leap of faith, that God would carry them home, the heighth of those buildings made it impossible to survive. I pray this is what they would want
I cannot think of a single thing that would send a better message than to rebuild to the way we were. The Towers were not built to stand as a statement, though they became one in the end. The statement of that site should not be how we were struck down, or how we taunted by making something bigger. The statement of what we do now should be that you cannot change how we live or frighten us into submission.
I truly hope that the organizers would allow the nation to have a voice in this.
I fully support this concept and believe that restoring what was sends the strongest message that we will not be influenced by this type of criminal activity.
The Twin Towers were the iconic signature of New York City- especially for those who live outside NYC. The best way for the city (and the nation) to gain any sort of closure is to rebuild the towers stronger, taller, and safer.
It’s the best option for everyone. Rebuild the towers to be safer and stronger–bringing back a lot of businesses and jobs, and create some sort of memorial or museum for everyone close by the site of the two towers.
I could not believe that they are going to build something other then the Twin Towers. I am outraged by this plan of the Freedom Tower. Freedom, I thought that the plans would be voted by the people in a truly democrate manner.
I watched a Showtime program by Ben & Tiller’s BS last night on Ground Zero. A real eye opener. As always, those who are in charge always seem to nothing what the people want and at the same time get paid for doing nothing at all.
Rebuild the WTC as tall if not taller, without all the weepy, self-pitying embellishments. Rebuild from pride, not sorrow. Did the U.S. go into permanent shock when it was attacked at Pearl Harbor? No, it planned to strike back and defeat the enemy, not go into a perpetual crying jag.
This is a good start; motivational step. But if we stop here we will continue to lose this WW3 against radical Islam and the Third World Countries that are threatening the existence of our children.
