I Just read this comment on the NYTimes site on an page regarding the PA questioning saying-
“Remember the Saying Be careful for what you wish for because you just might get it? funny b/c i dont ever remember any 1 asking for the Freedom Tower and there getting it anyways?!New York has defied everything from its maze of under the city lines that keep the city alive to building when space is needed and expanding the shoreline and we cant rebuild 2 Towers?” We need a better response than the FT.
Wow I wish i knew about all this earlier! I think I will help by purchasing the bumper sticker that says “We are not stuck with the Freedom Tower” and sending it to Mr. Ward and say “I just thought you might wanna put this on your car” lol it could work.
I had no idea there was a plan afoot to rebuild the towers. THAT is what should have been done by now!!! What is this capitulating to the Terrorists?? This is our country. If I hadn’t been on Mark Levin’s website, I’d not have known.

The “Freedom Tower” (more like Surrender Tower) is a disgrace to everything America stands for. If we build it then we let the terroists know they got to us. We should build the WTC taller than before.
People should realize that the Freedom Tower is only being built because of other peoples greed. It isnt something that needs to be built at all. We need the Twin Towers back! They weren’t a target because of their height, they were a target because of what they stood for. They stood for the unity on the strength of America and thats something that the terrorists hated, and thats why they were destroyed. Not building the Twin Towers again means they won! Lets rebuild now!
I’m really embarassed that the so-called “greatest nation on Earth” can’t erase this physical scar (the hole in the ground) and rebuild the site! How are we supposed to convey our strength and resilience if it’s taken this many years just to have a well-groomed hole in the ground? Enough! This is a lousy tribute to those who were taken away on that fateful day. If they’re not going to get their acts together and build something, then fill the hole and plant trees as a memorial.
I was in the 4th grade when the towers fell. I was in NYC last year and the hole left in the skyline without the towers is horrifying. Put them back and tell Osama to kiss it!

The Twin Towers were not only two rectangular prisms at the tip of Manhattan, they were a symbol of strength and freedom for this country. What is the point of building a “junkyard” of closely accumulated buildings that have no symbolism towards the devastated of 9/11 or for the rest of us Americans? The people of New York City woke up every morning, expecting to see the pride and endurance of those two buildings taking up space, and they’re expecting the same in the years to come.

When I see this Freedom Tower I only see another icon, but when I see the plans to rebuild the twin towers I see an icon that represents hope. The freedom tower plan has been a disaster. The only true solution is to rebuild the Twin towers again, truly better in every way.
I remember coming to NYC in my early 20’s and whenever I would land at Newark and take the shuttle to the Port Authority, the excitement would always heighten when I caught a glimpse of the towers in the distance. It represented something larger than life and that you were a part of something really dynamic and special. They weren’t just buildings, they were a peice of iconagraphy representing success for Americans. I can think of no greater tribute, than to rebuild them as they were.

What ever happened to the unbelievable drive this Country of ours once had? Just 6 mos after Pearl Harbor, our Navy was victorius in the battle of Midway. Nowadays we don’t dare make a move on any subject without forming a “blue ribbon committee”, only to debate the subject for countless yrs and still come up empty. Hard to believe we made it to the moon, ahh, but then those were very different times. Towers yet to be rebuilt doesn’t surprise me in today’s America, and that is truly sad.
Please just rebuild them. I was so angry when I watched them fall, but the anger has subsided and I just want back what was once there; the greatness that was these towers. They were gorgeous buildings, I don’t believe anything could ever replace the originals, but rebuilding them will prove to those who brought them down that we are a proud nation. I feel that we need those Towers back on the lower Manhattan Skyline. It does not seem like a good idea to place the Freedom Tower in its place. It is just not right.
