  1. How dare we stop at half way! Since when does America complete half the job and quit?! Rebuilding one tower at WTC, no matter how aesthetically pleasing, will always be considered only half way completed. Of course rebuilding in NYC would be ideal but construction has already begun, but if worst comes to worst, we could always build the exact WTC complex twin towers in another city. Before you balk at the idea, look up WTC twin towers along other cities skylines! It could be a good way to stick it to the Port Authority for dismissing 90% of America’s strong opinion and wishes. Rebuild!!

TTA Note: Thank you for signing the petition and for your excellent comment. “Twin Towers II” is a fully designed, reengineered plan to restore what is quite possibly the most celebrated skyline in the world. As it happens there is already interest in building the plan in another city, but we will pass your idea of generating images with the Twin Towers rising in other skylines along to the man who designed the plan because it is a terrific idea. As for the Twin Towers Alliance, since we read the same media reports as everyone else, we appreciate why people would think it is too late, but it is not. Please see the Bulletins page later today for more information.

  2. We are Americans. If a we are attacked by terrorists, we shouldn’t have to let that scar from the attacks stay there for 9 years. We should rebuild, taller and better because that’s what Americans do. We aren’t a small helpless country! I’m sure the people who lost their lives on that day would choose the Twin Towers over that Freedom Tower piece of crap. USA!

  3. There could be no greater symbol of our strength in the face of so much hate than rebuilding the Twin Towers. We need this for New York, for the families who lost their loved ones, and for our country that is struggling to find its way.

  4. Until they stand again, exactly the way they were on 9/10, the terrorists stand victorious as they have changed the way we are.

  5. I’ve supported this for years. Most people I know don’t care enough to support it. What can I do? Clearly, petition signing won’t be nearly enough.

  6. Americans will NEVER forget the loved ones lost and even the survivors of this disaster. Each and every person as well as family, friend and rescuer will forever be in our hearts! Show the rest of the world that America is still strong and WILL rise above this and bring back our towers so that they will forever be a symbol of hope, strength and unity as a GREAT nation!

  7. I was in second grade when the towers were attacked, but in this much the firefighters went in those buildings not only to save lives but to put out the flames to save the towers and if you don’t rebuild the towers the way they were then those brave souls will have died in vain.

  11. I visited NYC for the first time last week. I went to the WTC site and it was incredibly disheartening. There wasn’t anything to see, nine years later. There was one new building, in progress, and a few cranes. But it’s still a gaping wound. The Twin Towers should be rebuilt.

  12. I was only 6 years old when the twin towers were destroyed. I barely remembered them and knew nothing about their significance. In the past 10 years I have learned much of the legendary towers that were taken away from us and the 3000 lives that were too. I believe the only way to restore New York and the heart of America is to rebuild the World Trade Center exactly the way it was, but stronger, safer, and taller. They have the resources and money and in today’s age it would be a piece of cake. If we rebuild the towers back the way they were it would show that we won and the terrorists lost.

  14. i was born in 1993 so i was just a kid when i saw the twin towers for the first time. Every time my father and i passed those legendary towers, i would ask my dad if i can go up there. He always told me we would, but i never did. 8 yrs old i still remember that day. The day i accepted i would never see them again. But i wish we could rebuild them so i can finally see them and go to the top floor as i wanted when i was just a kid.

  17. The terrorists win if we don’t rebuild the Twin Towers. The Freedom Tower is not the right response to the September 11th attacks. If we want to come back stronger as a nation we must rebuild what was stolen from us and that is the iconic Twin Towers. The Twin Towers stood for world peace and love. The Twin Towers is the only way to healing. Let us rebuild the Twin Towers for the future of our generation.

  18. We need to rebuild the original twin towers. The freedom tower or WTC1, or what ever they call it now is more of a replacement to the towers than a memorial to all of those who died that terrible day. Let’s rebuild the world trade center and show the terrorists who’s boss!

  19. i think that rebuilding the towers the way they stood is not just a great idea but its our responsibility as americans i think if we can as a country get as much voluteer workers that they had pouring into the city of new york. just after that fateful day, then i think that there would be as much if not more voluteers to rebuild them as they were before 9/11 dont let the government let us decide what we should do lets keep this country a FREE country lets be strong and stick up for our beleifs.

  20. Rebuilding the Twin Towers as they looked before would truly show the strength of the American Spirit. Our forefathers faced overwhelming odds to gain our freedom, and they succeeded. In rebuilding the Twin Towers, we would show both our allies and our enemies that no matter what you may throw at us, we will strike back, we will rebuild, and we will never give up. What has kept this nation great for over two hundred years is our unwavering courage and determination. We began as an unimportant land, but we showed the world what we were and now we are the most powerful nation.

  22. seeing the new design of this wtc is frustrating. they look like towers of 2050. it would be nice to see not one but two towers. not to mention two twin towers.

  23. I agree with a lot of what I see here. The twin towers were a symbol of democratic strength, thought, and leadership. By rebuilding them, we are rejuvenating and improving that icon and bringing back what people who find glee in destruction rather than progress took away. By building a memorial, we are building what someone described here as the stumps of what was. I don’t want to look down from the new WTC and be forever reminded of a sick past. I want to look forward and continue to build. Leaders, rethink this decision and don’t lose on this opportunity to bring NYC forward.

  24. I can’t believe that we have failed to rebuild the Twin Towers that once dominated the Manhattan skyline! With the Freedom Tower the skyline will look as though the terrorists have finished what they have started! The Twin Towers represented man’s belief in peace! The Twin Towers were a symbol of America! The terrorists will win because we have failed to live up to our standards! Congratulations to Osama Bin Laden! The terrorists have won!

  25. I wish to see the twin towers standing again-but the freedom tower looks more like a needle that would kill a person than anything amazing, so america should do the RIGHT thing and REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS!!!!!!

  26. On September 11, 2001, I was only in first grade. Even though I may have been young and I am not even from New York, the attacks had a huge impact on me. I couldn’t quite understand why somebody would want to kill thousands of innocent people for their religion and “god”. The Twin Towers were the highlight of New York and we, along with the rest of America, need them back. This one, single tower does not symbolize America’s strength, freedom, or courage whatsoever. I believe that building this tower instead of the Twin Towers is quite frankly an insult to all of New York and America. Rebuild.

  28. Twin Towers deserve to be rebuilt. They were brought down by people who just had absolutely no care in the world at all about those who were within. The now gone children who have no future anymore. Please, lets stand, and rebuild!

  29. Ever since I was 3, back in 2000, I dreamed about going to the magnificent towers. When they got destroyed, I had to go to therapy to sort out depression, seeing these towers rebuilt would mean alot to everyone in america.

  30. The official new trade center is going to be significantly smaller than the original ones. What is that crap? This is America. When someone destroys our buildings, do we say “okay, we will just rebuild it smaller next time”? No, that is not America. That is sad.

Also, the new trade center’s appearance does not match the aesthetics of NYC at all.

If we could just rebuild them like they were before, it sets the strongest example — that we can’t be broken.
