I have been to new york a lot. I loved seeing the twin towers way before getting to them. They were beautiful. We, meaning this country, went to war for the people those idiots hurt and killed and those buildings they destroyed. We won that war. But if we do not rebuild those building we are showing them we lost. I say build the twin towers and make them a little taller just to show them they cannot win against us. Whoever is stopping this from happening please don't make us lose this half of the war.

Why weren't the Twin Towers designated a historic landmark before 9-11? This would mean that if they were destroyed, they would have to be rebuilt.

TTA Note: We once asked the New York City Landmark Preservation Commission if the Twin Towers would have had to be rebuilt if they had official landmark status and were told they would not. But it is a New York City agency, which says it all... Tower 1 achieved the 30-year threshhold in 2000 and Tower 2 in July of 2001. They weren't officially opened until 1973, but that is all irrelevant since they were the epitome of a de facto landmark. Thank you for bringing the matter up. It gives us some ideas...

I am from Georgia and have always wanted to visit NY and go to the top of the Twin Towers. I strongly wish that they would rebuild them not just as they were, but build them taller than the Sears Tower in Chicago. The terrorist felt like they took some of our freedom away by tearing the towers down. Please rebuild them and show the terrorists that the freedom of this nation will NEVER fall.

As a kid growing up in Jersey City, the image of the twin towers standing is everything to me. For 15 years I seen those towers day and nite so please rebuild it and restore the skyline to its glory. My father worked in those towers for years including 911 and spending time there with him were some of the greatest memories I have. Let others enjoy this just like I have. Rebuild them please!

The Twin Towers were historic landmarks in the greatest city in the world. New York City isn't the same without our Two Brothers standing tall and firm. As a memorial to all those lost I strongly believe the Twin Towers should be rebuilt. It shows the world that we're courageous and we don't back down. When we fall, we get back up. We don't send someone else in to take our place (Freedom Tower). We will never get back all the innocent lives lost on that horrible gloomy day but we can honor them by showing them we will not be defeated. New York City is a brave city. Since I was a kid, I had always dreamed of visiting NYC, with it's beautiful skyline, dominated by the twin towers. If somebody had told me something about NYC, The twin towers is the first thing that would think about. I clearly remember that day, september 11th. I was shocked and horrified to see those terrible events which took lives of so many innocent people. I asked myself, "How could they?". To this day I am not able to answer that one. In my opinion, they should have rebuilt the old WTC. As a sign to the terrorists that the spirit of NYC cannot be broken, so its skyline. By rebuilding the WTC the perpetrators of would that they did not achieve their primary goal: To terrorize us.

The Twin Towers need to be rebuilt. New York is not the same without them. They were a symbol of America which we deserve to have back. The victims of 9/ll should have a memorial but not where the Twin Towers should be. Plus do we really want to show the terrorists they won by building a whole new structure. Hell No!!! We need to honor the memories of the victims, but also the sacrifices made by the thousands of military heroes since this abhorrent act. Let's stand tall in this valiant effort to rebuild the towers in the grandeur they deserve.

I loved the twin towers. Every time I saw them, I would say to my young son, "There are the twin towers," like a ritual. Those buildings stood for so much; to me, they were New York. Their stark simplicity, power, grace, and unmistakable presence inspired me. I don't like the new tower they are making. In fact, I am sorry to say I hate it, and I feel like crying every time I see a rendering of what it will look like completed. It is not even discernible among other buildings. Even, if they never rebuild the twin towers, the picture I have of NYC will always include them.

10 Years ago on 9/11/2001, I was 13 and was in 7th grade as I watched the Twin Towers fall to the ground. And what it brought in the past decade was not only a loss of our freedom and liberties but a loss of life, and a loss of humanity. Its hard to believe how quick 10 years have gone by and we still have not rebuilt what evil has taken from us. Ten years later we are still hurting. I do believe that now more than ever, we still have the opportunity to really change course of this country and return American principle back to its core by us guiding the law. The Twin Towers were the New York skyline, they are the iconic symbols of what makes America. They were taken from us along with many innocent lives. We cannot replace people nor can we replace icons. By rebuilding the Twin Towers we honor those we have lost, as well as honor all the brave men and women defending our freedom, showing the world our resilience in overcoming tragedy with rebirth and renewal. The Twin Towers were taken from us, they would still be here as the New York skyline had 9-11 not happened, as would the thousands of loved ones we lost. It is time and has been time we bring back our Twin Towers, moving on to our future by staying true to our past.

Even though my home now is NJ, I feel like I grew up in NYC because my grandparents lived on Lower East Side, and we would go there once a week. The Twin Towers are the skyline of NYC -- bring them back!!! Everyone wants them back -- I can't believe the NYC government didn't give NYC what they want...and need. There's still hope, so let's believe!!! God bless all of our brothers and sisters who have died on 9-11-2001, and their families and friends. We will NEVER forget you!!! Personally I would prefer to see the Twin Towers rebuilt at ground zero as a symbol of America and the world's defiance againts global terrorisom. I think New Yorks iconic sky line should be restored to its former glory.

I was 9 when I took my first trip to NYC. Coming from Dallas I was greatly impressed by the sights and sounds of Manhattan. Going up to the World Trade was just the icing on the cake and I feel lucky I was able to visit them.

Are you kidding me? Dubai is building the worlds largest building? Yeah...with our US Dollars for middle eastern Oil..With all due respect...we should be building the towers larger and taller than anything else...if an attack comes again it will happen whether it is a 20 story building or 200....rebuild them taLLer and and biGGer than ever before..that will give us all everything we have been missing ever since that horrific day....it will give us our New York back..our beliefs...our everything....Build them again...build them again...build them again.

Rebuild the Twin Towers! Show the world that we can get back on our feet!

The Twin Towers I should be built again for it represents the new chance and life for the Americans.

Rebuild the Twin Towers alongside a proper memorial on the Super Block of the World Trade Center. Anything less dishonors those who died on 9/11 and those who have died defending it since and will be viewed as a sign of weakness and decline to our enemies and the world.

My daughter was 2 when 9/11 happened. Now at age 12 she's just beginning to learn about that fateful day. She deserves to see NYC the way it was, as does every other child -- with the twin towers in their rightful place as part of the skyline. The children of those who died that day deserve to have the towers back as a monument to their parents. Those who lost loved ones should look at those towers and be proud of their parents/family members who died. They were everyday ordinary people who were just working a normal day and who did not deserve to or think they would die that day. We need to honor them and tell the terrorists of the world that they have not won anything. We are still strong. We are America. We will not be beaten.

i strongly belive we should rebuild the towers to show al qaeda and all other terrorists that the united states of america will not back down. we are united and stronger than that or the people that died on 9/11 died in vain. our armed forces, police, and firemen did all they could to find any surviving person they could. not rebuilding will show the brave men and women who searched and the families of loved ones who died that we dont care. well i do care and the least we can do is rebuild the towers to show respect to those who risked their lives living or deceased that our nation cares. It makes me sad to know that the terrorists "win" with the current solution. Not rebuilding is a huge huge mistake. Unfortunately slimy politics gets in the way of what is RIGHT and should be done!

I wasn't born in NY, however, I moved here in November 1993. I have lived in NY and worked here in the financial industry from '93 to '01; therefore the iconic World Trade Center was always in my view (as it was, for so many others). How many times I had been in an out of the trade center for interviews, meetings, drinks, shopping, etc. It truly became a staple for everyone. Imagine, if you will for a moment, losing Central Park and then the city officials replacing it with some condominiums and a small pond with a few trees; New Yorkers would be outraged! New Yorkers and fellow Americans deserve to be heard (it is and continues to be a NY staple) and treated with respect and compassion. The Twin Towers should RISE AGAIN and grace the New York skyline, once again!

I love the twin towers and wish they were still there. I was born in 98 and was only 3 during 9/11, i lived in NY for 7 years. I wish the towers were still there so i would get a chance to see how amazing they are. I always feel sad when i think about how NYC won’t rebuild them. On 9/11 my dad arrived at his dealership in queens and noticed everyone was outside. He asked them what was going on and they said the WTC was hit by an airplane, my dad and family loved the WTC, and when he saw them collapse, he was in shock. And when I was in school today, we were watching a video about 9/11 and I almost cried. I love the WTC and i want it back. I don’t want the freedom tower, i want the NYC skyline, i want the twin towers.
