If the ugly piece of trash Freedom Tower is built, the terrorists win, because they're letting us alter our skyline. Do we want that? No! If we rebuild the beautiful Twin Towers, but taller and stronger, we win, because we're showing the stupid terrorists that if they try to defeat us, we will just rise up stronger! We want that!

I only got to go in the Twin Towers once, and want to go in them again. If the Freedom Tower is built, I will never go to New York City again!

I was born and raised in New York and I watched the men build the towers for many years...in the rain, the snow, the heat and when it was cold. My dad was an architect in the Bronx and many times we would go down to the site and watch them...when the towers were completed we found them to be very beautiful. Many times we would view them from the Jersey side especially at night when all the buildings were lit up...Please build them again and lets enjoy them forever...

Landmarks should never be replaced like they never existed. Just like when the White House was burned in the War of 1812, it was rebuilt, not torn down. What we should do is begin a protest at Ground Zero. That would be showing the officals that we want new twin towers, we spent too long telling. With the protest, this issue should get more publicity, and hopefully with the public having more knowledge, we could have more supporters than we ever dreamed of. We will succeed, and rebuild The WTC.

A few reasons why the Twin Towers should be rebuilt:

1. They rebuilt the damaged section of The Pentagon!

2. They rebuilt 7 World Trade Center!

3. The Freedom Tower is the most ugliest, most ridiculous building I've ever seen and does not represent freedom!

4. 93% of us want the Twin Towers (our TRUE freedom towers) back!

5. If the Statue of Liberty got destroyed, you don't replace it with the Eiffel Tower!

6. More!

REBUILD THE TWIN TOWERS, BUT TALLER, STRONGER AND SAFER!

Please. We need the twin towers back rather then the new ones in progress. I believe that only the twin towers are the right buildings for ground zero and New York. They shouldn't be replaced I'm sure those that died in the attack feel the same way.

It amazes me how it has turned out to be so complicated. It’s so simple…

America will only show it’s strength if you rebuild what was taken from you. If you don’t rebuild the WTC as it was, basically the terrorists will win and finally accomplish what they always wanted: America losing all it’s glory and become a weak country living in fear!

That’s what the Freedom Tower stands for: fear and acceptance!

America fails with the ordinary Freedom Tower! New York will never be the same… America will never be the same…

I've always wanted to go to the twin towers ever since I first saw Home Alone II and just stand on the observation deck. The freedom tower doesn't represent freedom, but rather tyranny. Bring back the twins!!

The "freedom Tower" does not represent freedom, it represents a failure that allowed terrorism to alter one our countries most recognizable landmarks. The freedom tower suits foreign skylines such as the Dubai and Tokyo skyline, New York is not a city full of cold 95% glass covered mega-skyscrapers. Manhattan needs this landmark to once again stand proudly as it did before.

I grew up in Throggs Neck (The Bronx), and from the end of my street you looked at that magnificent skyline. I agree, the terrorists win if we allow the most recognizable skyline in the world to be altered. In 1978 I lost 39 people I knew in an aircrash. I'm a Flight Attendant. There were 144 souls on board that day. On the "hollowed ground" where they all died now stands an inexpensive home. To this day we still leave flowers on their corner. Enough is enough. REBUILD OUR TOWERS!!!

Please...I beg of you...do not dishonor my friends & countrymen and women who unknowinly died for our country on September 11,2001. Born and raised in NYC, I've got a whole lot of friends & a whole lot of family who will never, ever recover from this day, please honor them by building a tribute to them at the site of their 3,000 deaths. Fewer died on the USS Arizona....use that as an example of how to show respect.

TTA Note: From time to time we will write to the person who has left a comment if it gets cut off or something about it is unclear, so that once we hear back, we can manually correct it. It was unclear whether this particular comment was for or against new Twin Towers, so we wrote to clarify. This morning we got a one sentence reply in bold, red, 24 pt. letters: YES I AM IN FAVOR OF RE-BUILDING THE TWIN TOWERS!!!

Greetings all:

Until today I believed I was the only one who felt that The Twin Towers should have been rebuilt just the way they were as soon as possible after 9/11 and that leaving this hole in America was only part of fear mongering and political games leaving us a weaker rather than stronger nation. No matter how long it takes, I feel that the towers should be put back the way they were.

Thank you.

When I see pictures/movies of the Twin Towers - all I want to do is encourge NYC to rebuild them! Let us fix the flaws. Prove we cannot be beaten down. Construct a glorious courtyard w/ a shallow reflecting pool, place hundreds of underwater screens that gently flutter names and photos of all the couragous people lost there. Play soft healing music that whispers the names of the couragous firemen and police officials that rushed to action. Water & Music will Rejuvenate Our Souls!

Twin Towers II is beautiful and it's the right thing to do! Rebuild! Why not?!? The Freedom Tower is disgusting down to the last detail and we all hate it! I can't believe we have to pay for it through taxes. I would happily pay for TWIN TOWERS II! Rebuild, don't replace.

Please rebuild the Twin Towers. I never got to see them but was planning on coming December of 2001. I would love to be able to get a chance to visit New York and be able to visit the new towers. Don't let the enemy win, rebuild the Twin Towers stronger than ever!

Don't let the enemy get this Country Down! We are bigger and better and God is on our side. It would be Wrong! Very wrong! Not to Re-build the towers however many times they destroy it. Give them somethimg to strive for. Give Us a central Target to capture and destroy the enemy. It is Time to re-build and to re-claim a better and more secure tomorrow for Our Country. New York Could Use a stimulus Package. Mr. President cut them and the American Public a Break like you Did the Banks! Ask the People!

Forget rebuilding the towers at their original site. Thats to late. Why not collect money and build it someplace else? It could become an attraction wherever it is built. I am from germany and we lack of great skyscrapers. What may the costs be nowadays?

…have found some wonderful footage of WOW in the net. Check it out - you’ll love it… [click on name for link]

Greetings, Christian from Germany.

TTA Note- It is easy to understand Christian's perspective, but his following question is the reason why it is not too late. The economics are clearly in our favor, including factoring in the transition - as detailed in "A Plan to Save the World Trade Center." The ONLY obstacles to an historically great development are political.

Hello, I am from the UK and the Towers have effected me more than most people from the UK who were just 5 when the attacks happened. I remember coming in and switching the TV on and there was the North tower, Bellowing with smoke. I thought it was an accident and went out again I came back in and my mum told me they had collapsed. I believe it is a waste of good resources to tear down the Freedom Tower, They should complete the F-tower and put up the twin towers next to it, Its the cheapest way.

TTA Note: If the Freedom Tower were just a skyscraper, it might make sense to complete it and build Twin Towers in place of WTC 2, 3, and 4. But it is an obelisk and, whether it is recognized or not, putting up the same form seen in cemeteries throughout the world is ghoulish. That is a simple fact. Images register in our individual and collective subconcious. It is irresponsible and destructive to put a giant tombstone at the World Trade Center. It sends the wrong message. It should be capped and preserved as an example of what happens when out-of-control politicians ignore the people.

What better memorial could there possibly be?

What's the best way to stop the building of the Victory Mosque? Show them that we have NOT been defeated and rebuild the WTC! Even if the spineless officials in NY allow the building of the Victory Mosque, it will NOT look down on Ground Zero, Ground Zero will look down on the Mosque! Hell, we could even put a big hand on top of one of the towers with the middle finger extended towards the Mosque. 😀

TTA Note: The "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy is not off-topic for a number of reasons that we will comment on soon.

I say rebuild the twins not replace, restore the true New York skyline so the next generation can see the towers in place, not how they were destroyed. I wrote a term paper on the mismanagement of the WTC site and I saw how the public had no voice when it came to rebuilding. I think the 9/11 families should speak out against the current construction at next month's memorial service to tell the politicians how they really feel about the WTC.

I was in 3rd grade on 9/11, and was one of the few people in my class who knew what the Twin Towers were. Without them, New York City is like a puzzle missing a piece. We said we would "never forget", but by building the Freedom Tower, it's like this country has amnesia. It's also letting the terrorists win. The only way to honor those who perished, while simultaneously sticking it to the terrorists, is to rebuild the World Trade Center as it was, and as it was meant to be.

I would love to see the twin towers, WTC one and two, built exactly as they were originally. I believe by doing this, America can begin to take back what was so violently stolen on that day. As a Canadian, I would love to see them rebuilt, as this would to me, be the true American spirit shining through.

the first time i heard about the twin towers i was just 6 years old and i had to leave my infant school early and we watched the news about the disaster and i think they should build not one freedom tower but two freedom towers but the second tower should have no spire like the first tower dose have and they should scrap the plans of letting the original 2nd tower from being built and let a twin of the freedom tower be built next to it just like the old twin towers

Thank you for posting my piece as "The Best Tribute Ever."

Let's keep up the efforts to have "the right thing" done to that sacred site. This is predominately OUR issue and it will fall on US to make things happen.

Far too much time has elapsed. It has become an insult to the victims, survivors and families.

I was in 4th grade on 9/11. Before that day I had no idea what the World Trade Center was. To me, the Twin Towers were a symbol not only to Americans but the entire world. A symbol of prosperity and hope. One World Trade Center does not symbolize that. It symbolizes fear. By rebuilding the Twin Towers taller and stronger than before, we send a clear message to the world that we have truly overcome. If we don't, the terrorists will have succeeded in their goal of instilling fear in Americans.

America, NYC specifically, is like an incomplete jigsaw puzzle. Thing is, the people at Ground Zero holds the final pieces of the puzzle and, to this day, still refused to put it back to where they truly belong.
In short, America, The Beacon of Democracy, is not complete without the Towers, and the sad part is, your own leaders are the ones responsible for its authenticity.
Just to shorten a long comment, we all see the current plan there as an unjustifiably senseless waste of precious time, valuable resources and effort. http://vimeo.com/15250258
