I really don't think I can add anything that hasn't been said already, but... bear with me, maybe I can.

I'm Italian.

Now, imagine if somebody blew up the Colosseum.

How would you feel if we neglected to rebuild it?

Because that's what we did when the bell tower in Piazza San Marco was destroyed: we rebuilt it brick by brick, and now thousands of people - tourists and Venetians - can admire it in its rightful place every day.

That's what we did when WWII destroyed Palermo, Catania, Siracuse and Naples. We rebuilt most of the landmarks, with our bare hands (and some help from our American friends, of course).

A lifelong dream of mine is to visit NYC.
And in my dream, when I come, there's the Towers...

The Twin Towers should be rebuilt. The people who are responsible for their attack have won as long as the towers remain in the past. There would not be a more fitting memorial for the victims of that day to see the towers rise again and be the symbol for America of freedom and resiliency to overcome the darkest of days. I was only 7 when 9/11/2001 occurred I to this day am memorized by those towers and was cheated out of being able to visit them. I was at the site for the first time this year and wished I would have gotten to see them. Do the right thing for New York and America Rebuild The Twin Towers

Ideally there would be two feet for every person who died that day as the height of the main faces of the new Twin Towers. They deserve to be rebuilt with modern and ancient technologies being integrated better than ever, it is only fair to New York City to rebuild better than before. That is why there must solely be additional safety precautions.

1. Post-Tensioned Concrete poured into each exterior column and floor plate, so planes can't just come and slice through the building.
2. Tunneled Fulton and Greenwich Streets under the plaza, providing major access points through which to access the World Trade Center.
3. New Carbon Fiber Elevator Cables, which promise to vastly extend the distance between sky lobbies.

The Twin Towers were a symbol of NY architecture, freedom, and economic power. They were amazing in every possible way! I visited them as a kid and would love to see them again. With the rebuild of the Twin Towers based on Donald Trump’s proposal back in 2005, greatness will be restored in Lower Manhattan. New York deserves to have the Twin Towers back, and so does the rest of the world.

Twin towers were such a treasure to the New York and to the USA. I think that they made a mistake for building a new "better" WTC, instead of just rebuilding the old ones. Oh, they we're so beautiful, and so magnificent!

I became obsessed with reading about those towers previous year. I am still obsessed with them. I am very sad they are not there. Just came from NYC last week. Was looking at the 1wtc, and boy, the twins are missing. It was interfirring to the eye! I hope one day they will be rebuild. Lets try bring that day.

I wasn’t born on 9/11, so I never got a chance to visit the twin towers. It’s my dream. Give me the chance!

As a Norwegian/American living in Norway who has never been to NYC, I was sorely saddened when the towers fell. And now I'm hopeful that they will be rebuilt once again restoring greatness to lower Manhattan once again. The current skyline is not the same and not impressive whatsoever anymore. The original WTC 1 & 2 were amazing in every way possible and there were two of them! Even though One World is there, we can just build the Twins even higher! And not in glass! Let's build them back! Yeah!

I grew up in NJ and I always saw the Twin Towers whenever we went to the city. To me, they symbolized NYC. I dare say that they WERE NYC for many people, myself included. The skyline just looks wrong without the Twin Towers back where they belong.

We should have rebuilt the towers. Not only would that make the skyline look right; not only would that be a fitting memorial to those who died there; it would be a nice, heartfelt "F You!" to those who brought them down! Give those bastards the finger times two!

My late mother thought that they should have been rebuilt, as do I. Make NY right again; rebuild the Twin Towers!

We need to restore lower Manhattan. Every era has their symbol in New York City. The Twin Towers were a symbol of the late 20th century and its contribution to New York. The Empire State was a symbol of the early 20th century. Right now we have a gap in New York and we need to hurry and rebuild the twin towers. The majority of people born after 1991 do not care about restoring the towers so we must act quick because slowly but surely those that remember the towers will be gone some day. ΨΨΨ REBUILD!

Too Late... I was born almost one year after the towers fell. Knowing what my fellow Americans went through, nothing would fill me with more pride than to see the Lower Manhattan skyline restored to its former glory.

We particularly appreciate this comment because it highlights a pervasive misunderstanding, which our new home page will clearly expose.

Rebuild the Twin Towers. Need I say more? The only buildings that belong back on Ground Zero are the Twin Towers. It's the only proper choice. America deserves the Twin Towers as a rebirth of its dedication to world peace. It needs a symbol that can express the American spirit better than a thousand words. Make the World Trade Center the same soulful place it was 20 years ago. Rebuild the Twin Towers. Make a positive difference in America.

New york autorities can build twin towers in other location nearby the current wtc towers to avoid any destruction or complications with newly built Towers in grand zero. Thats the only solution. Please accept my solution to once again new york city can shine in the world of architecture and have the globally reknown skyline with new twin towers and current wtc towers together. Thanks so much and god bless america.

I was born in 2001, I never got to see the Twin Towers 🙁 WE NEED TO REBUILD THEM, WE NEED TO REBUILD THEM!! The original WTC was a very grand symbol for NYC and the United States of America. They were well known across the world! The towers were beautiful and really defined the NYC skyline. If we don’t rebuild them, the terrorists win. Let’s say your mom died, and then they say “she died, but here’s a new, different one!” IT’S NOT THE SAME. If we build them stronger & safer, it will show the world we will ALWAYS heal from the ashes and come back stronger than ever...WE ARE AMERICA. Imagine if they are rebuilt—it would have a TREMENDOUS amount of tourism! My life will be complete when they are rebuilt, I WANT TO SEE THESE BUI

I was born after the 9/11 attacks, and I didn't know what had happened until I was around 5-6. I remember for the first time watching the Disney film Oliver and Company. It started with a great establishing shot of New York. That was the first time I'd ever seen them before, all I had known about NY was the Empire State Building. I thought they were coolest things in the world, idk why. So later on I caught a movie or an episode of a TV show on cable, idk what it was but it featured the Twin Towers. I hadn't seen them in a live action film before and it blew my mind, I fell in love with them. Anyway, later I told my mother about how I wanted to go to NY and see them, which is when I learned about 9/11. I wanted to see them all my life.

With all due respect to the new complex of the World Trade Center, in the composition of its buildings there is not such a significant sharpness of the silhouette as it was in the original solution. Powerful character, individuality ... this is of course either twins, or a stronger solution than the current one.

Our beloved twin towers were the most iconic of New York City. By leaving them in the past, you are knowingly allowing our enemies to claim victory. Ridding this planet Osama's disgusting presence wasn't enough. We want our Twin Towers back! Nothing, especially not the new, inferior to the original, "One World Trade Center" will ever be capable of replacing our glorious towers. Time will never heal those wounds. Sixteen years is far too long of a wait! Only the rebirth of our beloved towers will heal those soars. Hear our demands, and do as we the people desire! Give us back our towers and reintroduce the people of New York City with the greatest sense of pride, honor, and dignity that only their beloved twin towers were capable of giving.

My dad helped with the recovery operations at the WTC for months. Of the 343 firefighters killed on 9/11, my dad knew about 50 of them. Make the skyline whole again! Rebuild the towers!

In my opinion, twin towers are essential parts of New York consist memories unreplacable by the freedom tower. Without them, New York is not New York. By the way, I really think the new world trade center is ugly.

Some immigrants came in New York based on nothing but a postcard they had seen — a photo with that distinctive Manhattan skyline. To me, a French citizen, New York always has been the Twin Towers. This distinctive, tough, violent shape, was indeed how America seemed to us. Powerful. Mighty. But also beautiful.

All the movies that featured the Twins have written in my head how NYC should look like. It's now a ghost that haunts even me, a young citizen in France... That's how amazing the Twin Towers were.

I've always wanted to see them, to breathe New York's air from the observation deck, at nearly 400 meters from the ground. But now it's impossible, and not only for New-Yorkers, but also for any citizen in the world. The new tower, somehow, has less than the old Twins.

Sorry Freedom Tower, but it's going to be very hard for you to replace such icons.

Even though I was only two when it happened, as a freedom-loving patriotic American, I look at what happened on 9/11 as an attack on the United States by those whose goal was to destroy these symbols of our economic prosperity, crush the American spirit, and destroy our way of life. If we go ahead with the current plan and continue to build these new odd buildings over where these symbols once stood, instead of rebuilding the original structures bigger and better and stronger than ever, then the terrorists and those who sought to destroy these symbols will win, and they will have succeeded in accomplishing their primary goal, which is something as Americans we cannot accept or allow. Rebuild the original towers.

I was born in '95 and never got to go see them, I never even new they existed until I clicked on a 9/11 memorial video at 13 years old and was horrified! I fully expected them to be rebuilt but they where not inset an ugly giant tombstone was erected as a statement piece for the corporations rather then try to recover from what happened!
