I can’t possible understand how they allowed the Freedom towers to be built instead of the Twin Towers, weren’t the Twin Towers the icon of New York? Back in ’01-’02 they told me they would replace the Twin Towers, but there still is nothing out there, with the simple design of the Twin Towers, we could’ve rebuilded them back in 2004 but nooo…

To me there is really no logical reason that can be made for not re-building the twin towers.
Quite simply, the people who should have the final say should be the families of the victims.
In fact you could say that the decision should have been theirs from the beginning, and from what I’ve heard they support re-building the towers rather than the freedom tower.
I’m quite certain Mr. Obama would agree that the families deserve the final say.

I’m a Brazilian teenager who prays everyday to they rebuild the Twin Towers, first of all, it’s not too late, we can see the current progress at Ground Zero. It was been 8 or 7 years now since New York wasn’t New York anymore: Terrorists take the towers in New York Skyline, but they never will take the towers from our hearts, and now IS TIME to make these words WORTH.
Nothing less than rebuilding the Twin Towers exactly as they were is acceptable to any world citizen who values freedom and democracy. When the Campanile of St Mark’s Square in Venice collapsed in 1902, the city authorities and the citizens of that other great republic were of one voice when they considered a replacement:
“DOV’ ERA E COM’ ERA” – “HOW IT WAS, AND WHERE IT WAS”.

I am a British citizen but a resident of the United States. It still amazes me that those in charge of redeveloping this site ever considered doing anything other than rebuilding the twin towers as they were. Surely that is the only appropriate response available in order to send the message that the terrorists’ impact has not weakened the United States, and that everything is now ‘business as usual’?
As a Canadian citizen, I have never gotten to see the world trade center towers in person as I have always wanted to do. After Sept 11 01 I now no longer have that option to go visit NYC to see them. It would bring me and others sooo much joy to see them be rebuilt to their original shape and heights as they were before.
I lived in NH when 9/11 happened. I was devastated. I now live in Australia and the newsagency I get the paper from has an old front page article from their newspaper showing the tragedy.
I miss the towers. I miss the significance that it had. I knew just what city I was looking at when I saw the skyline. Without the towers, I can’t tell anymore.

The new tower looks like rubbish I would 1000% perfer the classic twin towers. I’ve always wanted to visit the twin towers, if they build the tower I wouldn’t come to New York I would go to LA or something.
the twin towers should be rebuilt exactly like the originals because anything else would be like saying the victims never existed. it would be the biggest message that the world can send out saying you will never beat us. it would be the best memorial you could ever build for the brave people who lost their lives. i’m sure each one of those brave people would want them rebuilt too. god bless the brave and please rebuild the towers.

Hi, I am from Australia and had the pleasure to visit the world trade center back in 1996. I have to say that only 1 structure – one wtc (Freedom Tower) is a gutless response!!! This is not the America that we know back here in Australia. Really the only logical way to go is to re-construct the twin towers larger, stronger and better than ever. This would certainly display a sense of absolute power and triumph over disaster and this is the old America we know back here down under !!!

I witnessed live the destruction and horror on 9-11 on my television. It was something I did not ever wish to see. I would like to see the towers built back again onto The New York City Skyline with all my heart. But, how is that to be when your country has somehow elected this man Obama as your president?!? The Twin Towers were an icon to New York, and a symbol of freedom to this country. They Must be brought back, but built with heavier materials, and more structurally sound, so 9/11 will never happen again. They Should move them offset and have the reflecting pool, in the place were the original towers were to show they will always be there in our hearts. I remeber how terrible 9/11 was, and I would like to remeber how monumentous it will be when the Twin Towers rise over Manhatten again.

If the White House had been destroyed, would you build some condos in it’s place? Please replace this American symbol. The towers should be re-built.

Its almost 8 years on, its about time the towers were being rebuilt.
